Is Your Facebook Profile Worth $100?

You!

Don't worry, Facebook isn't planning to charge you for your profile. But according to Slate, you're already worth about $100 to them. How do they figure? Simple. With Facebook shares expected to be around $30 to $40 when its stock goes on the market, the entire company is estimated to be worth somewhere around $100 billion. Facebook also announced recently that it's close to securing 1 billion active users. That means users are worth an average of $100, according to Slate.

However, in reality, the company makes a fraction of that amount in revenue off of individual users. TechCrunch estimates $4.84 per user per year. The real value is in Facebook's growth, which has kept it a central figure -- the central figure -- in the social media game for years. It's that endless looming potential. Although, if it keeps growing, they're going to have to look beyond Earth for new users. Do you think your Facebook profile is worth $100?

You know I used to think that too but I kinda like having google+, twitter, youtube and of cours Sodahead for all those friends that are smart enough to use more than one site! I have my own circles and I don't need google or anyone else coming up with software for me to seperate the people I know! lol I find that I have a more rich experience on each platform doing it this way! I don't personally know anyone on Sodahead so I am able to answer each question with pure honesty and I love that! lol

Facebook, if I recall before the glamorization of it all was about making it a hookup site. A place to get laid.

Now that it's gone mainstream ppl hate the fact that ppl are still getting laid on facebook? whaaa

Some people, as you have proven, can only get a hook up with out being seen first. Traditional dating does not work for them, hence loser facebook for hook ups. I am sure cons have mutliple accounts on there.

Since they ruined the Facebook experience with the stupid "Timeline", I don't even look at my page anymore. Can't find anything on it anyway.

I share valuable information on my Facebook profile...but I'll happily delete the whole thing if CISPA passes. Facebook still supports CISPA and I expect they will be selling our info if it is signed into law. So, if that happens, I'll switch to worldtruth.org and delete my Facebook account.

Zuckerberg took a project he was paid to do, stiffed the people who paid him, then took what he was paid to develop and rebranded it as what we now know to be the first Facebook. he's a crook just like most of the business cats he went to that uppedy school with.

I don't 'like' brands, click on advertisements or have a lot of personal info on my profile, so I don't think it's worth a lot.

    Facebook better not cost $100!
  • Maiko adeenmc... 2012/05/01 22:16:22
    Maiko
It won't "cost" us Facebook users anything. They are just saying that each profile is worth about 100$ a piece to them. In other words Facebook earns 100$ from each profile, thru advertising, games, in game purchases etc. They aren't going to charge us. If they did that, they would lose over half, if not almost all their clients in one quick swoop...
  • adeenmc... Maiko 2012/05/02 01:10:25
    adeenmckenziekennedy
Yup you do have a point on that one.
  • Wizard adeenmc... 2012/05/02 08:28:02

FACEBOOK would fail in less than a week, if they charged to be on it.
    Everybody would go somewhere else.

But, maybe after it is public, they will improve on the software.
Right now, the messages are hard to track. If you have more than 100 friends, it turns into a mess trying to follow it. And the mobile app I use to check on it, has a very poor editor. I have to delete my entire message and start over, if I want to reedit.
