Is Your Facebook Profile Worth $100?

Don't worry, Facebook isn't planning to charge you for your profile. But according to Slate, you're already worth about $100 to them. How do they figure? Simple. With Facebook shares expected to be around $30 to $40 when its stock goes on the market, the entire company is estimated to be worth somewhere around $100 billion. Facebook also announced recently that it's close to securing 1 billion active users. That means users are worth an average of $100, according to Slate.

However, in reality, the company makes a fraction of that amount in revenue off of individual users. TechCrunch estimates $4.84 per user per year. The real value is in Facebook's growth, which has kept it a central figure -- the central figure -- in the social media game for years. It's that endless looming potential. Although, if it keeps growing, they're going to have to look beyond Earth for new users. Do you think your Facebook profile is worth $100?

It's basically giving out YOUR personal information, for me that's worth more that a lousy $100 I couldn't travel anywhere with that much money.

personally, the ability to see what your friends are currently up to in a stylish and innovative way is definitely worth 100 bucks.

You have your equation wrong. It is not worth money to me, it is worth money to facebook, which is why Zuck needs to share the wealth of the IPO with users who are the value of facebook. I am thinking 50/50 of his share. It is time to do a series of Boycotts so he will understand he is nothing without us!

I personally think facebook will fade out! I don't think it will become obsolete but I do think people are tiring of it as most of my friends are using it as much as they used to! As for me I use several platforms to keep myself interested as I get bored really easily! I think we are all on here because we find this more rewarding than facebook and that s why I think Sodahead is far better than facebook! I like it because all the smart people come on here...well at least the ones answering the questions I answer! lol

Let me get this straight. You are telling me that personal information can only be worth 100 bucks? I really don't think so. What if you did something stupid and put VERY PERSONAL INFORMATION THAT IS WORTH A BLACKMAIL on something like Facebook? How much money would you charge to have the information kept quiet????

    Think about it.

Kudos to Zuckerburg. Making money from throwing sheep, poking and people saying they are eating a pastrami sandwich. The guy is a genius.

i'd give facebook up in a minute. i'm just there to monitor my teenagers. if they start charging teenagers would be off facebook and so would i
  • panjok2 ktyxes 2012/05/02 12:11:10
Who are you kidding? We parents would just end up paying for their facebook... in one way or another! haha If you really want kids off of facebook... then take away their phones...which I am almost betting you pay for? If not then I bet that there are more parents who pay for their kids phones then who don't!
  • ktyxes panjok2 2012/05/09 02:14:00
u got me so wrong. i didnt say i wanted them off fb, thats neither her nor there. i said i was there to monitor them.
  • panjok2 ktyxes 2012/05/12 15:50:17
sorry I wasn't really saying that towards you but more as a broader statement. Monitoring your kids and their activities? Boy that's almost unheard of today! good mother! Maybe less kids would be shooting people if we had more mothers and fathers like you!
  • ktyxes panjok2 2012/05/16 02:22:25
thanks man, i needed to hear that.
  • panjok2 ktyxes 2012/05/18 15:29:46
Your welcome! Good parents are hard to come by these days so they need to hear how good they are and often! So keep up the good work! Your kids will fail from time to time and it is even possible for them to hit rock bottom from drugs or alcohol so don't be shocked if that ever happens! ( I really hope it doesn't) BUT, I believe parents have the wrong thoughts in mind when they raise their kids in that they want them to be good so they can succeed, which is not all bad but the real thing we are doing when we raise our kids is giving them the tools to pull themselves out of any holes they fall in! If they don't have a good sturdy moral platform then what would they have to get back up on or to keep them on once they do succeed!
(remember someone was the parent to hitler, jeffery dahmer, etc! and also to people who run companies that do bad things!)
