Is there something we're NOT being told about the massacre in the Aurora Theater "Gun-Free Zone"?

After the massacre in the Aurora Theater "Gun-Free Zone", the media was quick to point out it was "a WHITE AMERICAN" in the firsat news broadcast I heard.
Then the premier in Paris was canceled, all across this Country there was "an increased police presence" "precautions are being taken" etc, etc, etc.
Why?
Is there something we're not being told about this shooting?
They didn't make this big of a deal about the Virginia Tech "Gun-Free Zone" massacre, and it had many time more victims.
What are your thoughts?

So it was like the movie itself had in some part fueled it so they beefed up the presence in other theaters. As for Paris, they were just being sensible. As for the white comment, it's okay to profile honkies, so no problem.reply
