Is There a Doctor in the USA?!? You Will Have ObamaCare, But Will You Have a Physician?

Obama Failed Soda Head Chief Opi 2012/08/02 16:41:03
Sure you will have insurance under ObamaCare, but you might not have a doctor. The nation faces an imminent shortage of physicians. Will doctors simply stop taking insurance and Medicare? Can government cure this problem, or did government create the doctor shortage

    Govt created the shortage.
Can govt cure the problem. They can in part by reigning in the trial lawyers.

What is amazing about this is, if you look at the articles below, countries on some sort of government funded/subsidized/socialized healthcare have been having these problems for some time. These articles span from 2010 to now. But typical Democrats... they had to rush out and try to become a European nation, even with the problems right before their eyes.

Canada's doctor shortage will only worsen in the coming decade

I've been my doctors patient for 30 years and I'm set as long as he keeps doctoring.

My daughter has a plan where you have to call a nurse who hears your problem and then she makes you an appointment with an internist. Then the internist sends you to a specialist if needed. Then you go to the Specialist and he sets up an appointment for surgery. And I swear to God and on the lives of my grandkids.......this is exactly how they handled the badly broken wrist of my 20 yr old grandson. For two weeks his wrist was broken, stabilized, but painful and broke.!!! It was two weeks to the day that he had his 4 hour surgery.

Obamacare is NOT going to be any better than this! You can count on it!

This is not his xray but his break was just like it except one of the long bones was also broken.

Yeah government will cure the problem. They'll have to subsidize doctors education which translates to 'we pay their tuition'.

I have read that by 2050, there will be a shortage of 90,000 doctors in the USA.

Doubtful there is already a 100,000 doctor shortage before this implementation, It will become a torrent of Doctor's leaving after this law is in fully effect.

Hospitals don't want Doctors anyway - - they cost too much... Nurse Practitioners are a whole lot cheaper. The hospital's will just fill the DR positions with NP's

Yea - - I suspect there will be some culture shock for American Dr's under Obamacare... However - being a little older... I remember a time when Doctors did what they did NOT for the money, but because they loved the practice, and they loved helping people. I remember when doctors lived in the same neighborhoods right along with the plumber, the store manager and other middle class people...

I think today's doctors want to live in gated communities in Million dollar homes with 5 car garages, with income from a multimillion dollar private practice with multiple interns under their belt doing all the work. Today the do it for the Money. Today American doctors are not doctors, they are business men!

Business man doctors will have problems with the new way - - old-school doctors will do just fine!

Of course - - this is all conjecture assuming that Obamacare will survive for anything more then another year or two.

You obviously haven't been to an ER in the last few years. I've waited as long as 3 hours with people trying to be seen.

True... The lady I am seeing right now, has an eye problem - cornea transplant ... if her appointment with the Eye Doctor (specialist) is at 2pm... she will usually have to wait until 5pm or 6pm before being seen...

and that is not ER :)

There are some doctors that are in it for the money. There are others that are in it for the satisfaction of doing something they love and helping people. That's pretty much the way it is in any demographic.

We will have plenty of doctors... ... .. they just won't speak English.

For that matter - - have you visited any hospitals lately? How many American Doctors did you see while you were there.

In England, pretty much most hospitals are staffed by Doctors/nurses that have such a poor command of basic English, it is scary. But what scares me more are the muslim nurses who are exempt from the hygene standards of other nurses and can weare hijabs that cover their uniforms, yet English nurses have to have their hair up and nothing covering their uniforms or arms. They also demand prayer times and ask not to be disturbed whilst in prayer even if t here is an emergency.

I have worked for several of them and I can tell you the ones I have worked for will never take it.
One of the things you do not hear in the debates is that Docs are afraid of the "I want everything for free mentaility."
This type of patient is 10 times more likely to sue you than a hard worker who actually provides for themselves.
Call me right or wrong, but I have heard that from at least 5 different Docs over the last 4 years.
One of them actually quit the ER and opened his own clinic to avoid the free healthcare crowd, so no, I do not think he is going to start seeing them at his clinic.
