Is there a “diamond” buried only in the Bible?

holyheretic 2012/08/01 23:16:22
There is a “diamond” (a.k.a. the Golden Rule) buried ONLY in the Bible and NOT in other sacred manuals, such as the Qur’an, the Book of Mormon, or in Dianetics, the holy book of Scientology
There is a“diamond” (a.k.a. the Golden Rule) buried NOT ONLY in the Bible but in other sacred manuals, including the Qur’an, the Book of Mormon, and in Dianetics, the holy book of Scientology
Atheists are the most rational because they follow the Golden Rule and discard the “dunghill”, the sacred, organized idolatries, obscenities, absurdities, arrogance and intolerance

Please vote on my poll:

Karl Barth, "the most important theologian since Thomas Aquinas", pointed to "the criminal arrogance of religion.” Which religion is the most criminally arrogant?

A Christian Conservative SodaHead friend asserts that since “Secular law prohibits slavery, genocide, etc., divine law has to emphasize moral deviation such as homosexuality and masturbation.” Do you agree?

When the infidel, Lincoln, ended slavery in the Bible Belt 147 years ago, Yahweh was 2,800 years old, the Christian idolatry was 1,800 years old, and Allah was 1,350. Why did the Abrahamic idolatries endorse the horrific crime of slavery for so long?

Proverbs 15:10Discipline is bad to the one leaving the path; anyone hating reproof will die.

Proverbs 15:14The understanding heart is one that searches for knowledge, but the mouth of stupid people is one that aspires to foolishness.

ah yes the common thinking of men which fails at it's finest effort to show any real reasoning or validation of factual proof under any rashional logic found to date.

Proverbs 5:1My son, to my wisdom O do pay attention. To my discernment incline your ears,2so as to guard thinking abilities; and may your own lips safeguard knowledge itself.3For as a honeycomb the lips of a strange woman keep dripping, and her palate is smoother than oil.4But the aftereffect from her is as bitter as wormwood; it is as sharp as a two‐edged sword.5Her feet are descending to death. Her very steps take hold on She′ol itself.6The path of life she does not contemplate. Her tracks have wandered she does not know [where].7So now, O sons, listen to me and do not turn away from the sayings of my mouth

it is clear he is saying trust not in the teachings and wisdom of men who claim to provide logical reasoning. But instead turn to God and know him and his wisdom as your ways to Ever lasting life if you would be saved.

I hate giving it to religion but the 'holy texts' do try to impart some moral teaching to adherents. So everybody goes home with a gift on that one. What I really found intriguing was the term "criminally arrogant". Like trying to pass laws for the secular masses based on your religion's teachings. ewww.

There are no "diamonds" buried in any text or religion however there may be people out there who might be fairly accurately described as "a diamond in the rough" so to speak.

There is no other name under heaven, given among men, by which we must be saved.

There is salvation in none other than Jesus Christ.

Holler and scream, weep and wail, dispute, despise, hate, and deny all you want, some day each and every one will bow to Jesus Christ, and confess that HE is indeed, Lord of All.

Yes, but the diamond is not "the Golden Rule." The diamond is the grace of God made manifest, that even while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us to save us from our sinful condition and allow us to be with Him one day in eternity.

The "Golden Rule" is the second commandment: love your neighbor as much as yourself. The first commandment is to love the Lord God with all your heart, soul, and energy. The only way to keep the second is to keep the first; otherwise, we are incapable of not putting our own interests ahead of others' interests.

There is! Cuts all other rocks down to bits-but other rocks aren't harder than diamonds, so only diamond rocks should exist! Not to mention most just use it to have a shiny, piece of jewelry!
Metaphorically, its a very accepting hypothesis.

Morals & ethical behavior didn't 'suddenly' come into existence with the bible.Culture teaches behavior initially.Religion changes or reinforces what was there already.
