Is the War on Women Real or Manufactured?

Politics got personal on Wednesday when Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen accused Mitt Romney's wife, Ann Romney, of having "never worked a day in her life." It moved Mrs. Romney to send her first tweet ever ("I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys. Believe me, it was hard work"), setting off a debate over the decision to work or stay home. But The Christian Science Monitor is calling it a "fake" debate.

Ann told Fox News, "[Rosen] should have come to my house when those five boys were causing so much trouble, it wasn’t so easy. My career choice was to be a mother. And I think all of us need to know that we need to respect the choices that women make. Other women make other choices to have a career and raise a family, which I think Hilary Rosen has actually done herself. I respect that, that's wonderful... We have to respect women in all those choices that they make."

But Rosen is sticking to her guns, and responded to the criticism in a CNN editorial: "I have no judgments about women who work outside the home versus women who work in the home raising a family. I admire women who can stay home and raise their kids full time. I even envy them sometimes. It is a wonderful luxury to have the choice. But let's stipulate that it is not a choice that most women have in America today." We're not sure if Hilary Rosen or Ann Romney wins this debate, but that's not really the point. Do you think these kinds of feuds are real -- or just manufactured to get a vote in politics?

LOL. Try CNN or Wall Street Journal, or something more "unbiased".

You can also get ready for Obama to start pulling away with double digits. Every time Romney opens his mouth he insults another voting segment of this country. Did you see his latest gaffe - too good to eat the "7-Eleven" cookies at a sit-down with middle-class workers. Of course - the cookies came from a Landmark bakery in that area. The entire area is outraged. Why couldn't he have just said - how nice for them to provide cookies and lemonade for us. Thanks. But - his elitist mentality doesn't allow for that.

Hillary Rosen started this, not the Republicans. Her comment betrayed a really narrow vision of womanhood in America. Furthermore her suggestion that full time motherhood makes you economically and politically stupid is PURE BALONEY. Many full time moms are among the best informed, most balanced, and astute people around -- often at least as business savvy as their husbands! Rosen deserves all the crap she gets.

Damn, I meant to click real. I don't care how often Mitt marches his wife out to show how 'connected' he is to how women feel, and what their concerns are. However, the feigned outrage about Ann Romney is as phony as a 4 dollar bill.

Rosen didn't criticize Mrs Romney for being a stay at home mom. That is a fabrication invented by the the GOP and the Right Wing Media. She was criticized for not having worked a day in her life at a paying job. That woman has no idea how $2.50 a week could mean the difference between feeding your kids or not. She has no idea what it's like to worry if you have enough to pay for the rent, the electric bill, and still have money left for child care and/or food.

She worked in the house? Even then, it rings false, as she had maids, and nannies. I'm sure she did some things, all the sweet easy things, like reading bed time stories, but you don't have nannies and maids then claim you worked so hard to raise your boys. Maybe she thought ordering the help around was hard work? *I* worked hard. *I* worked two jobs, and cooked, cleaned, sewed, fixed the car myself, repaired household appliances. Ann Romney didn't.

Hil Rosen was the 'fall-guy' for this one...takes the spot-light off of King Bummer for awhile. I KNOW Mrs. Romney worked! Whether fate smiled on her and she married someone who knew how to hatch the golden egg is immaterial. She was married! She had a large family and home to over-see. Knowing how involved Mormon families are in their church and church activities, She had plenty of running and doing keeping all of those boys involved in those things, school activities, sports, etc. I know teenagers are involved with seminary (Bible study classes every day), scouting, schooling, music, sports, etc. As far as economy prowess? I'm sure she knows the prices of groceries, clothing, vehicle upkeep (Gas), maintainin a home..(and it's a very large, nice home). She is more than likely very well versed on her families economy, and our nations economy. She was able to do this of course with some help. With their financial situation, it would be stupid NOT to hire someone to help. Especially with her health complications of cancer and multiple sclerosis. She's a beautiful, intelligent lady and I'm sure would be an asset to this country if she were elected FIRST LADY!
Now I just wonder who/what will be the NEXT dust cloud the WH is going to send up to keep the media/populace busy while Obama thinks up some other tactic to try to convince voters he actually has done something worthwhile the last 3 1/2 years...

Multimillionaires have other people do those things. The only reason she'd know is she memorized them in case someone pops her a question.

    >and our nations economy.

There are many issues that are being pushed.
If you agree with them then you will appreciate what the Republicans are doing.

However, if you like women to get equal pay, and have choices in their birth control then you will find it offensive.

Either way the laws the Republicans are pushing are of their own doing and not directed by the Democrats.

Why is trying to do anything with your birth control? The republicans aren't. The democrats simply think women are dumb enough to be bought with birth control, and I guess they found a sucker in you. Pertaining to the same pay, that is nothing more than the democrats feeding businesses alive to the trial lawyers. Well, except maybe in the Obama administration.

    In the Obama administration:

    According to whitehouse.gov

The average median wage for women is $60,000 per year.
The average media wage for men is $71,000 per year.

Boy, you voting for a democrat sure makes you look ignorant doesn't it?
