Is the War on Women Real or Manufactured?

Politics got personal on Wednesday when Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen accused Mitt Romney's wife, Ann Romney, of having "never worked a day in her life." It moved Mrs. Romney to send her first tweet ever ("I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys. Believe me, it was hard work"), setting off a debate over the decision to work or stay home. But The Christian Science Monitor is calling it a "fake" debate.

Ann told Fox News, "[Rosen] should have come to my house when those five boys were causing so much trouble, it wasn’t so easy. My career choice was to be a mother. And I think all of us need to know that we need to respect the choices that women make. Other women make other choices to have a career and raise a family, which I think Hilary Rosen has actually done herself. I respect that, that's wonderful... We have to respect women in all those choices that they make."

But Rosen is sticking to her guns, and responded to the criticism in a CNN editorial: "I have no judgments about women who work outside the home versus women who work in the home raising a family. I admire women who can stay home and raise their kids full time. I even envy them sometimes. It is a wonderful luxury to have the choice. But let's stipulate that it is not a choice that most women have in America today." We're not sure if Hilary Rosen or Ann Romney wins this debate, but that's not really the point. Do you think these kinds of feuds are real -- or just manufactured to get a vote in politics?

We're not hyper-egalitarian like some European countries, but there is definitely a tendency toward misandry in the United States - such a tilt that spell checkers don't even pick up the word "misandry."

When My personal freedoms are being removed and a mans is not, it is obviously sexism . Why do we have to fight to keep hormones in our bodies why men don't? This is a War against Women, being treated like 3rd class citizens, using religion as their shield for this Hatred and Intolerance. Women need to rise up and take the power back. If Men coudl get pregnant, NONE of these bills would be submitted!!!!

Your personal freedom is not being removed. You must be insane! As long as you are alive you will have hormones in your body. You can't live without them. You are allowed to do anything you want with your body, including killing your babies before they are born. What the heck else do you want? You want a priest to pay for killing your babies? No fairness in that! Religious organizations didn't pay for that before; why should they start now?

I'm not saying what Rosen said was okay. Not by a long shot. My mother was a stay at home mom. But...I think for the most part the media totally blew this out of proportion. Everyone should have just laughed at Rosen for being so bitter, then had a moment of sadness for Rosen for being so bitter, then just forgotten about Rosen....because she's so bitter. :)

True sexism in society today cannot be properly defined and tracked because, in the mainstream Western media, “sexism” is always framed in terms of the far left feminist and egalitarian agenda—they and their agenda are the self-proclaimed arbiters of who and what is “sexist” or “misogynist.”

Through the lens of cultural relativism, one realizes that the Western concepts of Feminism and Egalitarianism are just as much a subjective cultural construct as any other cultural construct in history. Because of this, the Western feminist and egalitarian’s claim that they represent the bedrock and the forefront of social progress is a subjective judgment at best and, thus, untenable.

How could anyone think otherwise? Romney wants Planned Parenthood closed, no birth control, no equal pay for equal work, no violence against women act, won't fund anything that will help women. I guess they just don't want to help poor women, the wealthy ones already have the help they need. I wouldn't say that Ann Romney needs or ever will need financial help. She is not in the poor category. Romney's wife has a first class education, and, if she preferred, I'm sure could have a very lucrative career. She is fortunate. That is not the case for many families, however.

It sounds as if they just want to keep most women poor, uneducated, barefoot and pregnant. Husbands should be just as angry about these policies as women because it affects their lives too. Planning a family, a good education, fair pay for equal work should be as important to men as to women.

THIS IS HOW IT ALL STARTS WHEN PEOPLE MAKE COMMENTS THAT ARE FACTUALLY UNTRUE. MITT ROMNEY DIDN'T SAY HE WANTED PP CLOSED. WHAT HE SAID WAS THAT HE DIDN'T WANT IT FUNDED BY THE TAXPAYER BECAUSE IT PROVIDES FOR ABORTIONS. WHAT IS IT YOU LIBS & PROGRESSIVES DON'T GET ABOUT THE CONSTITUTION. IT'S CALLED "FREEDOM OF RELIGION". THAT MEANS PEOPLE WHOSE RELIGIOUS BELIEFS DO NOT APPROVE OF ABORTION, SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FUND IT. ALTHOUGH ABORTION WAS APPROVED LEGALLY DOES NOT MEAN EVERYBODY WHO PAYS TAXES SHOULD PAY FOR IT. IF YOU GET YOURSELF PREGNANT FOR WHATEVER REASONS, IT SHOULD BE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE THAT DECISION, THEREFORE PAY FOR IT YOURSELF. IT'S NOT EVERYONE

This is NOT a war by the democrats. Obama wanted to make birth control available for any woman that wanted it and the repubs got all bent out of shape and started making all these bills against women. Women getting less pay is also a repub thing. Obama passed a bill for equal pay. You should pay attention to what's really going on before making remarks that aren't true.

WRONG! THE REPUBLICANS WEREN'T THE ONES WHO GOT BENT OIT OF SHAPE, IT WAS THE CHURCH. OBAMA ALREADY HAD THIS CONVERSATION PREVIOUSLY WITH CARDINAL DOLAN IN NY & HE PROMISED HE WOULDN'T MAKE BIRTH CONTROL AN ISSUE & HE DID. DON'T YOU KNOW BY NOW WHAT A FLIP FLOPPER OBAM IS? FURTHERMORE, I NEVER HEARD ROMNEY SAY ANYTHING ABOUT CLOSING PLANNED [PARENTHOOD, HE HAS NOTHING TO SAY ABOUT IT. ITHINK YOU'RE CONFUSED. THE FACTS ARE THAT PP HAS RECEIVED GOVERNMENT FUNDS & ONCE THEY FOUND OUT THEY WERE DOING ABORTIONS INTHERI FACILITIES IT BECAME A PROBLEM. SURELY YOU KNOW THAT THE CHURCH NOR THE GOVERNMENT IS SUPPOSED TO PAY FOR ABORTIONS BUT IT'S BEEN GOING ON ANYWAY. SO IF THE TAXPAYER IS NOT SUPPOSED TO PAY FOR ABORTIONS THEN WER SHOULDN'T BE GIVING THEM MONEY, RIGHT?

THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH THE SUSAN KOMEN FOUNDATION A FEW MONTHS AGO WHEN THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE FUNDING THEY WERE GIVING THEM FOR BREAST EXAMS WAS BEING USED FOR ABORTIONS. NOW DO YOU UNDERSTAND? SECONDLY EVEN IF THEY DID CLOSE, ANYONE WHO CAN'T AFFORD MEDICAL EXAMS OR PROCEDURES GETS THEM AT ANY CLINIC, HOSPITAL OR DOCTOR THROUGH MEDICAID. ALMOST EVERYONE WILL BE ON IT SOONER OR LATER SINCE NO ONE IS WORKING THEY CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY FOR HEALTHCARE. ACTUALLY PP WAS SENDING THEIR CLIENTS TO HOSPTIALS OR CLINICS TO GET MAMMOGRAPHIES BECAUSE THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE THAT EQUIPMENT IN THEIR FACILITIES. SO SUSAN KOMEN FOUNDATION WAS BEING
TAKEN OVER THE HURDLES ON THAT ONE.

If it's not the repubs bent out of shape then who's passing all those ridiculous bills? Come on, you don't see democrats passing all this crap. As far as Romney, he did say he would do away with planned parenthood among a lot of other things. As far as abortions, they are legal, I don't believe in them myself but there are circumstances where they are needed. As far as the government paying for them, as far as I know they don't. Doesn't Susan Komen Foundation get private donations and maybe that's what they use if women were getting abortions through them? I don't know for sure that they were funding abortions and I'm not taking your word for it. I will do my own research on that one.

He never met his father till he was 10 but his parents were never married nor did they live together. His father had multiple wives at the same time & apparently never took care of his children, he was a womanizer & a drunk & was thrown out of college on immigration violations & sent back to Kenya & eventually killed himself drunk driving & crashed into tree. Obama

He was sernt back to live with his grandparents, had a communist upbringing which took amajor hold on his lifestyle as he has surrounded himself with communists, socialists & Marxists all his life. It has been his main agenda to transform America into that form of government.

This supposed "War On Women" neglects to consider that the privileges being threatened are ones men don't come close to enjoying. Rush's "slut" comment was considered an attack on women, despite the fact that men have been insulted as well, without a firestorm of outrage (Hillary Clinton herself has made sexist statements against men, and her career isn't in jeopardy for it).

Feminists demand free birth control for women, or else declare opposition to be part of the "War On Women", despite ignoring birth control for men, which isn't being demanded or offered.

The opposition to the Violence Against Women Act was called part of the WOW, even though the act quite noticeably left out men, who are the greatest number of violence victims.

War On Women makes a catchy bumper sticker, and fits nicely on a sign, but is flat out wrong. "Curtailing over-privilege" is far more accurate.

Your arguments would work well in a 1st grade classroom. but 93% of all violence is caused by men. Hillary didnt rant and rave about it for hours...and is also not known for supporting violence and Hatred and trying to blow it off that he is now a comedian. If so, why do you listen to Comedians that spout hate and intolerance to make money off people like you? Your words are null and have no weight. I don't think that this exchange between Hillary Rosen and Ann Romney is anything important. Rosen was saying the Romney's are out of touch -- they are. Most women don't have the choice to stay home, and even those that do have to worry about finances. lol good one. here's my message to radical feminists,if you hate men so much, then don't have sex with them and then you won't have to worry about birth control or abortions lol. Oh by the way sorry ladies but you asked for equal rights and you got them, but when you are treated like a man you try to play the damsel in distress victim card, you can't have both. I'm a woman but i'm no feminist,I enjoy doors being opened for me,men.picking up the check, providing for my family and being treated like a lady,i don't feel demeaned, everything is a ladies choice and a gentlemans agreement, some women just make bad choices and blame men.
