Here in the US and around the world it seems that suppression and oppression are the the main focus of governments and the 1% at the top. Yes, the US seems to stand and fight for freedom around the world. Yet our government listens to our calls, limits our right to gather, labels all who disagree and/or voice opposition as criminals or terrorists. It seems all the government needs to do is label someone as a terrorist and all constitutional rights are suspended. No proof is needed!
Police powers continue to supersede constitutional rights. Corporations continue to grow and influence/control people as well as governments. Corporations continue to advance their control over their employees, to the point we are nearing legal/government sanctioned slavery.
Increased poverty, cuts in education, increased military spending, increased government intrusion in our lives, greater corporate control with less accountability, etc......
Is now the time or can we continue in this direction?

I feel a wild wind a blowing, but ships of state never get anywhere interesting without a wind to push them. There will always be inequality, but it can never be sustained at ever increasing levels. That is the ultimate failing of the "Greed is good." lie behind current forms of laissez-faire capitalism. The greed of a few will always lead to a "Let them eat cake." moment when the oppressed masses rise up and say enough! We've tried many styles of government and found all lacking in some critical respect. What next? I hope it retains the good of all the previous ideas and purges what we found to be bad -- unsustainable or unworkable. I have no idea what that may be. All I know for certain after surviving nearly 70 years is the only constant in this Universe is change.

Unfortunately, our televisions have us hypnotized into doing as it tells us. The first thing we need to do is turn the damn things off. There was a time when the media stood up for the people; it now seems to belong to the government and the boys with the big bucks. The slobbering moron TV zombies will not be easy to convince.
