In a book set for publication Tuesday, a politics and government professor at The Citadel claims President Obama’s 2009 health care reform law was, in part, a union-driven effort to organize 21 million health care workers.
In ”Shadowbosses: Government Unions Control America and Rob Taxpayers Blind,” Mallory Factor describes a December 9, 2008 memo from Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Healthcare president Dennis Rivera to the Obama-Biden transition team.
That memo outlined a legislative proposal calling for “increasing the capacity of the health care workforce” as part of a larger health care reform initiative.
The SEIU and the Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), Factor writes, later coordinated with other public-sector unions to spend “literally hundreds of millions of dollars promoting Obamacare.”
The Daily Caller requested comments for this article from the SEIU, AFSCME and a White House spokesman. None of them responded.
A booklet published by SEIU during the 2008 election season called for “building a new American health care system,” in part by “organizing workers.” The publication argued for outcomes nearly identical to those later adopted in the Obamacare legislation.

Free countries need strong unions. Not just Big Corporations.

Free countries need free unions.
But I agree that "featherbedding" can cause waste.
It's only a matter of time before they are defanged, their power stripped to only negotiating over wages. It's a matter of economics in my opinion.

for medicare and eliminating insurance companies, I think. That takes care of his union
people and minorities......both Democrat and HIS voting blocks
So why this sudden obsession with the unions to unionize non-union workplaces, to pass nationalized healthcare reform, and amnesty for illegal migrant workers ?
It's actually pretty obvious.
Let's say the union movement succeeds in unionizing an additional 1/3 of all non-union workplaces in the next couple years, the Obama Administration passes amnesty reform, and that Nancy Pelosi is correct when she says that the Healthcare bill which just passed produces "4 million new jobs".
A little quick Liberal math here for all of us uneducated fear mongers full of hate who actually manage to balance a check book every month...we'll do it with "simple addition"...
4 million newly unionized healthcare workers from newly created healthcare jobs...
+ at least 15 million million healthcare workers who are currently NOT unionized...
+ lets say conservatively 2 million newly unionized workers after the "free choice act" (otherwise known as 'card check') is enacted...
+ another 15 million illegal immigrants after amnesty passes...
= over 36 million new votes for the "Progressive Agenda".
I guarantee that no union healthcare worker will vote their job away by voting for any candidate dedicated to repealling healthcare reform...

The unions will "own" at least 90% of all unionized worker votes, strictly out of fear, after the union bosses "suggest what their ballot should look like"...

Then add in all the "educated" college students, who have been taught the Liberal agenda since kindergarten and have already helped elect this administration into power....
Stir gently, and let simmer...

You have an enormous, over 36 million person voting block which will be almost impossible to overcome in any election in the future.
I contend that this is why everything is a "CRISIS". This administration must pass as much of this agenda as possible BEFORE the mid-term elections of 2010,
because they knew they would not have the majority after November.
This was their 2 year window to....'fundamentally change America'

The ultimate goal is to have a full blown Socialist health care scheme where the Socialist government controls all aspects of the medical field and rations health care to individuals as it sees fit. We will all get less quality and quantity in our health care, unless we are Socialist leaders or important supporters.
Of course he would attempt to turn over the health care industry to the unions. It's in his DNA.
