Is the UK REALLY safe from the Euro Crisis?

I've been in the Finance industry for 4 years now, and i've learned from working at the firm and at university that the Eurozone crisis has a trade and commercial impact on the UK, as well as economical. But the other day i got a call from a friend in London who has lost his job in the city because of the Euro crisis. I'm starting to think, is the UK really safe from the Euro Crisis.

P.S: I currently live and work in Dubai
