Pony, the yougest of the Careret daughters, has never been afraid to live dangerously-and for all that he infuriates him, she's always been her brother William's favourite. When her body is found in Lake Aral, the deepest lake in Vermont, something dosen't seem to fit: how could Pony, a strong and experienced swimmer, drown within feet of the family's exclusive holiday home, while her baby son looked on from the shore?
Pony's death opens a Pandora's box of questions: who was her son's father? What had she meant to tell William when she summoned him to the house that day? Who was the man seen talking to her while she was in the water? As William attempts to piece together the last moments of Pony's life, so he unearths deep seams of raw resentment that pit him against his authoritarian father, Jasper, and Tinker, his controlling, insecure sister. And just as the Carterets are at their most shocked and vulnerable, a new and insidious menace begins to make it's presence felt.

YesReading the book was very heart felt, and made me feel terrible for the characters, having to lose their yougest sister.reply
