The Badminton World Federation (BWF) said it had expelled four women's doubles pairs from the Chinese, South Korean and Indonesian teams after they had deliberately played to lose their matches in Tuesday's evening session, provoking jeers from the crowd at Wembley Arena .
The decision knocked out China's world champion pair of Yu Yang and Wang Xiaoli along with South Korean pairs Jung Kyung-eun and Kim Ha-na, and Ha Jung-eun and Kim Min-jung.
Indonesia's Greysia Polii and Meiliana Jauhari were also expelled for their involvement in the tainted matches on Tuesday.
Spectators booed as shuttlecocks were deliberately hit out of court, and serves dumped into the net.
A BWF panel issued the decision after a hearing on Wednesday where charges of "not using one's best efforts to win a match" and "conducting oneself in a manner that is clearly abusive or detrimental to the sport" were brought against the players.
Both the Indonesian and South Korean teams were appealing. China, blamed by the South Korean team as the instigator of Tuesday's farce, made no comment.

gamesmanship and strategy are all part of winning...the ultimate goal...
this isn't a 'show'...
to put it plainly...IF they had made a better 'show' of it, and made it appear as if they lost the matches in closer competition...NOBODY would be saying anything...
If there was strategy that could be played that was created by the rules committee than there is NO FAULT...they were put in position not created by themselves and they used it to their advantage...that is what the games are all about.
Unfortunately..., when you have 'group play' and seeding charts...this is what you get...
This type of play is created by the IOC to supposedly give 'equal' opportunities...
A perfect example is the charade the gymnastics competition has become...
(or any 'judged' competition for that matter) as we watched and learned that you can finish number 3 or 4 IN THE WORLD and not qualify to compete to be number one because 'to be fair, only two from each country get to advance'...
not the 24 best in the world...so unfortunately even though you are fourth in the WORLD...you have the distinct honor of watching 20 other athletes inferior to you compete to be the very best....while YOU watch....that is NOT what the games are supposed to be...it is supposed to be THE VERY...

thus proving that 'collectivism' through 'quotas' and 'fairness'....
NEVER really brings out the very best...it only makes a better 'show' through abject mediocrity.
