Is the 'Anyone But Obama' Tactic Smart or Silly?

If you think Mitt Romney is President Obama's only hurdle in the upcoming election, you're wrong. It's Mitt Romney, and... pretty much anyone with $2,500. In Tuesday's West Virginia Democratic primary, inmate Keith Judd trailed by just 18%. That's right, inmate. As in, behind bars. One West Virginia voter explained, "I voted against Obama ... I don't like him. He didn't carry the state before and I'm not going to let him carry it again." So, he voted for Judd. Or, as he put it, "That guy out of Texas."

A little more about Judd. According to Politico, Judd has run for president in every election since 1996, and actually finished third in the 2008 Idaho Democratic primary with 1.7 percent of the vote. He's a former Hollywood musician who claims to be a "Rastafarian-Christian," and lists Richard Nixon as his favorite president because "he got us out of Vietnam, and began world peace with China and the Soviets." Sounds pretty solid. But we've got to ask: Is the "anyone but Obama" tactic a good idea?

Did not like the limited answers! It is rather REMARKABLE that the Democrats would even ALLOW a convict to be posted against the President... that is in itself disrespectful yet plain stupid!

The fact that DEMOCRATS were the ONLY ones allowed to vote in this election and greater than 4 out of 10 choose a CONVICT over obama perhaps tells the rest of us just how much OBAMA is disliked.... even by his own party?

Is that a condescending remark about southern Americans or about the democrats that voted in this Virginia primary. Well maybe you think (using the term figuratively) that only democrats in Virginia are not happy with their parties candidate? I think you are a bigot and a racist ........you know.....someone who judges others by their ethnicity!!!

It's pretty bad when there are so many people out there who feel that way about voting but it goes to show that Obama has lost a lot of his initial popularity now that people have seem what he and his administration are doing and want to continue to do.

List three things Obama has done and "wants to continue to do".. that has hurt America? To be certain these "things" are not merely talking points courtesy of the RNC and/or PROFESSIONAL water carriers, (pols) for the Republican nominee.. How does these three things affect you? I mean PERSONALLY.

Obama has played your preferred candidate, (ABO).. like so many fiddles. The brilliant ones amongst your ilk know this. They UNDERSTAND this. Wait, oh WAIT untill the final act unfolds.

Obama Accrued more debt for the USA in one term than Bush did in 2 terms with the same 2 wars and more natural disasters to deal with.
He lost our AAA credit rating due to overspending and inability to produce a budget plan that would reduce the debt, causing future homeowners to have to pay higher interest rates and making it harder for future president to reduce the debt due to higer interest rates.
He re-instated the patriot act NDAA and strengthened them with additional executive orders, reducing the rights afforded us by the first amendment.
He issued an EO that forbid those under 18 from working on family farms causing farmers additional financial difficulty and stripping rural teens of jobs.
He signed hr347 which limited right to assemble and protest protected under the first amendment.
That is the first 5 that came to mind i can list more if you like.

Is it the Presidents' fault that his opposition decided to PRE-oppose everything this democratically elected President was elected to do?

"So should the constitution be ammended to defang opposing political parties.. Or just congress?"
You do realize that is how dictators like Kim Jon Il are created, by weakening anyone that can oppose the will of the executive branch. Our forefathers had seen this happen before and in order to prevent it from happenning here they set 3 EQUALLY powerful branches of government so that no one could gain power over the other.
It was in that context that McConnell said, "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."

Garrett asked if that meant "endless, or at least frequent, confrontation with the president?"

Said McConnell, "If President Obama does a Clintonian backflip, if he’s willing to meet us halfway on some of the biggest issues, it’s not inappropriate for us to do business with him."

In other words, in the very same interview, McConnell said that he'd be willing to work with Obama if Obama is "willing to meet us halfway." That's called compromise. And that sounds very much in the spirit of Obama's call to "seek out common ground."

The other comment Obama referred to came from House Leader John Boeher in a radio interview with Sean Hannity on Oct. 27, 2010. It was made in the context of the health care bill, in response ...

The other comment Obama referred to came from House Leader John Boeher in a radio interview with Sean Hannity on Oct. 27, 2010. It was made in the context of the health care bill, in response to retiring Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.) saying it wouldn't be a good idea to repeal the bill. "This is not a time for compromise," Boehner said. "...We're going to do everything -- and I mean everything -- we can do, to kill it, stop it, slow it down." We think Obama's comment leaves the impression Boehner's "not a time for compromise" statement was more general in nature -- as opposed to being specifically targeted at the health care bill.

As for McConnell's comment "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president," that sounds an awful lot like Obama's summation that "his main goal after this election is simply to win the next one." But while McConnell said it, Obama left out an important detail -- that McConnell also said in the same interview that he is willing to meet the president halfway.

"This may bring my presidency down, but I will not yield on this," said Pres. Obama,
    http://www.politifact.com/tru...

So the republicans were willing to compromise but Obama was not.

Don't let politics get in the way of our chances of getting out of this recession and enjoining the future. The future is going to require a forward thinking leader that people like. Regaining our prominence and honor is not a 1 term job. The ship is going FORWARD and the actions that were began or are not yet started will suffer greatly by changing command. The "anyone but our current president" sentiment is narrow sighted and, in my opinion, quite dangerous to the inertia we've built. Pinochet, Pol Pot, Mugabe, Hitler and other leaders were killing, starving or otherwise harming millions of there own people and deserved the hatred they received, but our president is effectively making positive changes. The world is having stomach cramps and changing the medicine just to try something else could be fatal. What i tell those that say changing horses in the middle of the river is "don't". What i tell people that want a new president is "you may just win'! In this day and age the leader of America needs to be a worldly, knowledgeable, ebullient, suave, bold and charismatic person who has a draw for as many people as possible. Romney is not that guy. In modern times the leaders will be able to unite anb fight for all.

He also needs to be able to create a budget with fiscal responsibility that will not leave future generations with a debt that it will take 100 yars to pay off. He has only gotten one budget through in 4 years and abyssmal record due to his unwillingness to compromise.
This is also what led to the USA loosing it's AAA credit rating. Something that has not happened in 70 years.
For the first time in history, the United States last night lost its perfect credit rating, with Standard & Poor’s dropping it from AAA to AA+.

The move by the credit-rating agency could affect everyone in America, with mortgage and credit-card interest rates rising and even gas prices heading up.

"The downgrade reflects our opinion that the fiscal-consolidation plan that Congress and the administration recently agreed to falls short of what, in our view, would be necessary to stabilize the government's medium-term debt dynamics," S&P said.

The debt-ceiling deal was projected to lop off about $2 trillion from America's deficit over the next decade, but S&P had previously warned it would downgrade the credit rating if the cut didn't reach $4 trillion.

Credit rating downgrading is spreading throughout the 1st world. The president has a huge team of advisors all trying to right this ship. His unwillingness to compromise is directly related to the opposition's partisan headbutting. Would you agree that 4 years is not enough time to get strategies rolling? Changing leadership now would not be a wise business move. The new guy would have to get his team together, learn the presidential vernacular, deal with the big issues and sidestep the slings and arrows.

The current leader has proven unable to do the job so it would be an even bigger mistake not to replace him. An employee that fails to deliver on promises and does not perform adequately must be replaced for the good of the business.
President Reagan came into a worse situation the misery index was at 20 in his first term he lowered it by 10 points.
Obama came into a misery index less than half that and increased it by 3 points.
So we need to change drivers before this one sends us of the cliff.
