Scott McClellan, who served as White House press secretary under President George W. Bush from July 2003 to April 2006, published a scathing memoir, accusing the President of purposefully misleading Americans by manipulating intelligence and using propaganda to sell his agenda of going to war in Iraq.

McClellan claims Bush decided to invade Iraq soon after the 2001 terrorist attacks on the U.S. with no flexibility in his approach. McClellan says he was badly misguided by the Bush Administration regarding the war and was "at best misled" about the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame by Bush senior adviser Karl Rove, I. Lewis Scooter Libby, and Vice President Dick Cheney.

McClellan suggests that Libby and Rove secretly met to get their stories straight when federal investigators were hot on the Plame case. McClellan said, "Scooter Libby was walking to the entryway as he prepared to depart when Karl turned to get his attention. 'You have time to visit?' Karl asked. 'Yeah,' replied Libby. I have no idea what they discussed, but it seemed suspicious for these two, whom I had never noticed spending any one-on-one time together, to go behind closed doors and visit privately."

Even if he is telling the truth he shouldn't have betrayed Bush. He was his press secretary for crying out loud he shouldn't reveal anything about being in the White House that would be negative.

Little by little I believe it is becoming clearer to the American People that George Bush and many in the Republican Party have thier own agenda's which includes making themselves rich and hurting our nation.

    According to Webster's:

fact is: "anything that is done or happens; anything actually existent; any statement strictly true; truth; reality."

opinion is: "indicating a belief, view, sentiment, conception."

Scott said last night on T.V. it was "his opinion" as he saw it..... which doesn't make it fact.

Many of our biases are not based on fact or reasoned judgement but on opinions.

he sure waited a long time before saying anything about it. If he had the president's ear, why didn't he voice something back then? Are we to believe that he "suddenly " got a conscience?

Bush is a liar and a profiteering crook who belongs behind F'n bars!!! McClellan is late to the punch though and doing a little profiteering of his own here in the eleventh hour.

McClellan, like many is finally coming clean albeit in a self-serving manner. He helped to perpetrate, Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld et al's lies. As the truthis increasingly coming to light, McClellan like others is admitting that much of Bush's policy esp with regard to Iraq was founded in bedrock of deceit.

I have not read the book but I fully believe he is telling far more truth than lying. I think he is a brave man to tell the truth about these gangster elites. The evil ones will be unveiled and I feel this is part of the unveiling and exposing of the evil that has taken over the government of the US.

Who cares. Bush, Clinton, Obama, McCain they are all the same. It's the Us Government, and they are going to tell lies, and feed deception to the public. Sometimes it's in our best interest and sometimes not. As far as the war in Iraq, I don't understand what people don't get. People have been fighting since the dawn of man. Somebody always wants what someone else has. It's either money, land power, or religion that war is about. Iraq is a matter of national security, and that is I'd rather fight them there than here so get use to it no matter whose in power. Everybody blames Bush for everthing and yet we here in the US for the last few years are livng fat. Scott is a cry baby.

McClellan was part of a White House that has been hellbent on deception and distrust of the American people from the onset; bringing in old Nixonian henchmen such as Cheney and Rumsfeld. Thus, the "culture of corruption and deception" permeated on of our greatest instutions and MCCellan was part of that. In order to clear his religious conscious he has written this book that probably gives credance to much of my suspicions about the way information was disseminated to the public about the Adminsitration and its modus operandi. I have never believed any of the information coming from the White House in the past 7 years and sought information elsewhere that was more reliable. Furthermore, good servants of the government and those who believed in the "real" Republican mantra and protecting both the economic well-being of the country as well as its security, also left the Whtie House and wrote books that reflect a similar tone as McClellan's book. Though I do not fault McClellan for not voicing his concerns "earlier" or disclosing his criticisms or disagreements, as I do not think the White House, nor our obtuse president and his protectorates, would have permitted for such dissention, I find it parculiar that his book is released at this time. My suspicion is he is hoping that the more "honorable" McCain will take him on in some capacity if he wins the White House in November. Perhaps he is looking for a job at one of the think tanks and that by coming clean, he may have valuable insights that will give him a comfrotable position. Regardless, at least half of the proceeds from his book should go to Iraq and Afgahnistan veterans groups as McClellan was instrumental in the misinformation and dissemination of false, misleading, and ultimately the lies he and the Whtie House perpetuated to get the USA into an unnecessary war. He bears that responsibility and his has are bloodied from whatever he presented as the mouthpiece of the White House. If he found the operations of the White House morally repugnant, he should have left earlier, but he did not. To blame the "liberal press" for not investgating better and working harder.... the White House essentially blocked most attempts reporters made to get to the trusth. Frank Rich does a marverlous job in his book recounting how not only the press was complacent at times, but how hard it was to get reliable information--and when it did, editors, buried it on pages 15, 25 or 35 of their papers. No doubt based on pressure from the White House and a need to appear jingoistic about the USA. Finger pointing does not make our country a better place--action does.

Loyalty in the Bush White House only went to the top. The White House cut loose every single loyalist who was foolish enough to believe W and Cheney were men of integrity. From "Heckofa Job" Brownie, to Rumsfeld, to the guards at Abu Ghrab, to McClellan loyal Bushies were stabbed in the back when it became time to take responsiblity and be accountable for mistakes. The only thing that's wrong about McClellan's book is that he thinks Bush was "misled." Sorry, Bush is repsonsible for chosing his advisors, responsible for the atmosphere of partisan governing, responsible for not being curious enough to monitor and correct the work of those he chose to act in his name. Sure, McClellan may be a bit bitter -- after a lifetime of service to Bush from Texas to the White House, to be lied to about Plame and forced to sell lies and then let go for not being slimy enough to be convincing. As the web of lies disintegrates, look for Bushies even higher in the corrupt food chain to turn state's evidence against this pathetic traitor to the Presidency. Bush's memoir, I have no doubt, will be -- I'm the good guy, everyone else is guilty.
