Is Romney’s Sankaty High Yield Asset Investors Ltd. Based in Bermuda, used to pass non-taxed money that was gained from vultured US companies for foreign investment?

bob 2012/07/11 16:51:10
Sankaty High Yield Asset Investors Ltd. Based in Bermuda, shows the true lack of ethics of Romney
Romney’s blind trust is not so blind
The mystery surrounding Sankaty reinforces Romney's history of dishonesty
Romney's campaign declined to answer detailed questions from AP about Sankaty because he has something to hide
The use of offshore companies such as Sankaty are typically set up as shell corporations by private equity and hedge funds to route investments from large foreign and institutional investors, such as large pension plans, into corporate takeovers
Sankaty is used by Romney to defer some taxes on some of the "carried interest" income related to the Bain deals.
Oh don’t be so jealous of Romney’s Wealth

I dont have an account overseas - and I am definitely pointing my finger at him - why should he not pay taxes on his money like everyone else? Do you really think that's right? Do you really have so much money lying around that you can excuse something like that?

I worry about what I am doing, not others and I am glad that I don't have to pay the amount of money to the government that the rich people do. They pay millions of dollars in taxes. I think it is wrong to take from them and give it to some self entitled loser who wont help themselves.

Romney not any Angel; even so he love Evangelism to make the bucks, therefore money for him will be like monkey for bananas, his best friend always himself and the money. Either he or Obama will take all of us to the Inferno. Just wait for the results, A President should be qualified; not just a lawyer could do, less still a Pastor?

I'm amazed at the ignorance here - if foreign investments issue dividends, pay interest or provide any capital gains and any of that money comes back into the US, then taxes are paid on it. Apparently, Mr. Romney has enough mailbox money available to have a good life and can allow his foreign properties to increase. The increase isn't taxed. The same effect could be achieved by any blue-collar worker if they put money into a Roth IRA instead of into lottery tickets.

And corporations do this all the time. Funnel money to offshore tax havens, call this funneling "an expense" to reduce taxable income.

It is stealing from other citizens by not paying their fair share.

No different than the jerks in my area who buy 5 acres of land, plant a "crop" on 1 acre (which they throw away) and qualify for 'farm' tax rates which essentially are zero where I live.

So these guys who have 2 million dollar homes pay zero real estate taxes and still use the school systems etc.

Those that think that poor people steal because they have 5 kids going to school etc. have no idea how much more is stolen by the wealthy due to scale.

What regulations are you referring to?

What regulation is stopping him from investing here? Captial gains tax?

People are fooled into thinking our rates are higher than the rest of the world. This happens because they ignore the effective tax rate and concentrating solely on the statutory tax rate, which is often manipulated to make it appear that rates are much higher than they really are.

Less regulation doesn't make and honest man more honest. If you game the system the way it is now, it will be a free for all without some type of over sight. And lets not forget regulations aren't hatched, they come from someone tryingelse to game the systems. Those who want less oversight should convince the gamers to follow the rules and you wouldn't have to worry about being policed to death.

People aren't going to invest in American companies until they can restore their faith in America, period. Business, as a general rule, doesn't trust America. Too many bogus efforts to lull them back into the U.S. and then, wham! they get hit with financial nightmares left and right. Until business can be assured that they have a guaranteed period of time where the promised perks will remain in effect, they are not going to risk their lives, so to speak, setting up shop in uncertain America. Sad but true.
