Is Rick Santorum Behind Because He Is Catholic? #cnn #fb

AbadPerez 2011/11/15 19:29:06
The more I listen to Rick Santorum during the times he speaks at debates and on interviews, the more I can see that he is a true conservative. Now, I have seen the other candidates go up and down on their polls during this whole primary process (even crazy Ron Paul has made some gains), but Rick Santorum seems to stay behind.

Again, he is a true conservative, so why aren't Republicans attracted to him? There is only on thing that sticks out: He is a devout Roman Catholic. I know, many evangelicals are going to get defensive now, but lets be real, evangelicals for the most part do not see Roman Catholics as true Christians. In fact, I dare say that a lot of the folks on the "Christian" right think that the Pope is the anti Christ.

If the reaction Rick Santorum gets is anything like the reaction I get from many on the "Christian" right, he has a lot of work to do. I mean, many times when I approach people out there (as an Anglican I wear a collar) and try to share the Word of God with them, many who consider themselves as part of the "Christian" right will tell me that they are Christians and are not interested in talking to me. Heck, many of them try to lead me to Christ all the time, because they figure that I am a Catholic and Catholics (according to them) are not saved.

So what do you think. Is it his Roman Catholic faith and the whole Roman Catholic Church that they are rejecting or is it his conservative politics?
You!

If I may ask who left is an Evangelical? Perry being an idiot did not get their backing dropping out. Gingrich getting their support is Catholic too, Paul a Baptist, Romney a Mormon. Santorum being against contraception, for war with Iran may have something to do with his lack of support.

I think he is behind because he always has his foot in his mouth. He will not get the vote of the independents so I really dont think they will choose him because he is so far right that he will polarize the elections.

Could you grasp that he is a lightweight, unknown, young man with nothing to distinguish himself from the same rantings as nine others trying to appeal to the 5% of voters who are
out there in the far wings of behavior? He appears to be the "Collegiate Candidate" on stage with a strange old man, a handsome and known face, and a well known auhor of several books and three marriages.

And I would say that you are a "typical" Rightie who when he has nothing of substance to say, or is boxed in a corner with absolutely nothing of worth to contribute, begins the personal assaults and uncalled for insults. Run along now and when you can give an opinion that means something, do come back and we can maybe try again.

He's behind because he's a nut case. If the republicans are so bad they won't vote for a Catholic or morman than I'm glad I'm not a republican.

More competent than what? What have you been listening to? Perry can't remember 3 things or even the voting age or date. Bachmann get's everything wrong for heaven sakes. Cain is a flippin joke. And Romney and Gingrich have changed positions so often they even confuse themselves. All the good republicans are sitting this one out. You're left with an untalanted JV team in there.

Well I know more than you. He didn't destroy this country but he did save it from a depression. Now you may not like his policies that's fine and you are allowed your own opinions but not your own facts.

Like the well spoken "Oooops" Perry? How about Bachmann, the addled pated twit who sits on the Intelligence Committee and doesn't even know we don't have an Embassy in Iran? Then we have "The Groper" who never got around to telling his wife that he had a good friend for 13 years that he flew all over the country, and half supported? Of course there are the flip floppers Romney & Gingrich, and Gingrich especially who is so well spoken that he was paid a Million bucks for his "historical perspective" all the time demanding that any dem who took money from the same outfit he did, "needs to go to prison".

Yep, you sure got a great bunch of well spoken terds on that pathetic bench alright. Go for it.

Well, I can maybe take a bit of issue with that statement since you don't know me or anything about me. I raised a son to believe in this country and it was worth taking care of to the point where he served in Iraq and had three call-ups. I created a food pantry nearly 30 years ago and currently assist families who lost their jobs and benefits thru no fault of their own and have given them breathing space by giving them rent, heating and utility funds. We also help seniors with prescriptins when they have to make choices between heart medicine and food on the table. I volunteer giving rides to doctor appointments and right now I'm also getting people to the right place to get voter i.d. that our tea party governor got passed thru the legislature....and oh yes, I also helped collect over a half-million signatures to recall this absolute loser.

Errrr, does any of that count?

Bid difference, Gingrich says he is a Catholic but he has demonstrated otherwise, Santorum appears to be very genuine.

I prefer a president that truly loves Jesus Christ. However, the job requires a smart person at the helm.

No, there are a lot of intelligent Christians. What I mean is, if a Christian man who has the intellectual capacity to do the job is available, then by all means, lets pick him. But if the Christian (or otherwise) man is lacking in intellectual capacity lets choose the most qualified man.
  • Guru_T_... AbadPerez 2011/12/05 01:32:54
    Guru_T_Firefly
Why not just choose the most qualified man whether he's religious or not? Religion doesn't assure that there's an intellect present. As we've seen with Michele Bachmann, it can often assure the opposite.
