I have mixed feelings on this one. True teaching a child at an early age to hat and group of people can be a disaster just waiting to happen. Now for the Childabuse, you known, I believe it is to a point due to the mentle factors. This is an excellent question.

but I am sure if we wait it will be identified as one criterion of the criteria that comprises child abuse along with incest, cigarette burns, beatings etc. I think truncating childhood to heap untimely information that the Political Correctness contingent deems necessary is abuse simply because it shortens childhood which for many is often already too short.

No, but this was a tougher answer than most to which to respond in the negative. A parent has a right to raise his/her progeny the way they think is morally right--even if/when the morals by which they operate are completely wrong. Not everything can be legislated--nor do most of us want government to try!

The only people i've ever met that are raising their children to be extremely racist are the inner-city blacks. Since, as we all know blacks can't be racist, then I have to say no.

It's a repugnant belief, not abuse. I suppose to a racist the question would be just the opposite.

How about leaving the war of ideas to words and keeping force out of it one way or the other? I know how that won't sit well with all those folks who love to send in people with guns to make things all peaches and cream but its immoral to initiate aggression and for all those immoral utilitarians it hasn't been all that successful over the millennia either.

Suppose neocons take back over and pass laws making it illegal for an atheist or gay individual to teach his/her progeny that both homosexuality and atheism are perfectly OK? If they ever did such a thing, they'd do it using the SAME precedent/logic as was used to make it illegal to teach a child to be racist.

Beware the power you give the government, because tomorrow the 'other guys' will be in control, and they'll use your own laws against you.

I'm well aware of how good intentions could lead to bad results, but outlawing racism happens to be a road I'm willing to take. We as American people have made it seem like we dislike racism to the public, but we do nothing that would stop the hate. It seems every other problem in American can be solve by first starting at home except racism.

Why would any parent want to raise their kids that way. I have two bi-racial kids and they r my life. I have taught them to like everyone. Kids should make their own decisions and not the parents.

Okay, I think there should have been another option. I feel that it is very wrong that people do this, but I don't know if it is child abuse, exactly. However, I'll bet you that in environments where being hateful is taught, other abuse exists. So, they are most likely abusive homes, in general.

Thanks. The idea that kids should be given to the state is abhorrent to me.

I can't vouch for the data, but it's similar to other data I've heard elsewhere.

-40 to 50 percent of those children will never complete high school.
-66 percent will be homeless, go to jail or die within one year of leaving the foster care system at 18.
-80 percent of the prison population once was in foster care,
-girls in foster care are 600 percent more likely than the general population to become pregnant before the age of 21.

I'm glad they were. I've known a few as well. I have some friends that have taken in foster children. But the statistics are abysmal. Children are essentially chattel to the state.
