It's just a "nice" name for Marxist, but the stench remains the same.

It is destructive of anything that is not progressing for the purpose of progressing whether it be in a good or bad direction, Our foundations that made this country great are being tossed out, morals and values are merely hanging by a thread, and self involved/oriented people are more concerned about saving trees, fish, and birds than they are saving human life.
    liberal mentality

It is distroying our nation from the foundations up. It is not that conservatives are living in the dinosaur age, it is that all change is not automatically good. If someone told me that all old people should willingly walk off a cliff as part of a new society, I would not embrace it. If someone points out a better method of doing something that does not have negative reprocussions on future generations, then I will embrace it. Embrace change when it adds to the quality of life of our country, not takes away what has made our country great.

    Typical leftwing."If A equals B, therefore, A equals C too" [ill] logic.

Are you a masochist who gets off embarrassing yourself publicly, perhaps? I'm not into mysticism, so I deem all religion utter nonsense. But I support the CONSERVATIVE principles of our Constitution.

Or are you implying that one must believe in religion to be patriotic? DUH!

i'm pointing out the problem is more from religious fanatics, who also happen to be conservative. and conservatism has nothing to do with the constitution, it's about keeping things the same because your too afraid of asking any new kinds of questions or thinking if any new ideas.

religious fanatics conservative conservatism constitution afraid kinds questions thinking ideas

I'd say conservatism is the cancer (or at the very least, a strong case of the flu) of America.

A nation cannot move forward, or make progress, when people continually look backwards with rose-colored glasses and think the best times are behind us.

Sure, the Constitution is fine, but try looking beyond 1776 for a change. Try looking more towards the century we're in, and towards making it work.

Look at the past for inspiration, but don't live in it...it's gone...work for the future while we still have one.

But the commie-socialists want to move our nation LEFTward. Not forward... unless you want to label it "forward to socialism." But that's not where our nation's Founding Fathers wanted us to go.

Why don't you move to Greece or one of the other socialist countries that embrace your political philosophy?

You got it backwards, slick. Conservatism is the cancer - always has been. Each and every step toward being a better country America has ever taken has been fought against by conservatives. Conservatism is meant to be the counterbalance, not "the way we do things forever".

Progressives started social planning in the early 1900s. They started the FED, Federal Income tax, World War I, Planned Parenthood, Prohibition, the Great Depression, Social Security, minimum wage, World War II, private sector unions, etc.

I am making an assumption that you are speaking about progressivism as the latest title for anti-traditional movement which picked up real steam a century ago or more. Modernism, post-modernism, progressive liberalism, etc. They are philosophical constructs which use the nihilism and collectivism of Marx, Engels, and Neitczhe for their axioms rather than the classical thought of say Aristotle, or the orthodox thought of G. K. Chesterston and Thomas Aquinas. It is a movement which for the most part denies a creator God, almost always denies the incarnation, and deplores any dogmatic orthodoxy, without examination, even when the orthodox view would clearly be the most reasonable and realistic one in a given situation. It requires a buying into a type of relative way of assessing the moral structure of society, and ones own personal morals, and adopts the poisonous ideal, "as long as it's not hurting anyone else, why should I care". If only that observation were EVER true. It is not. All actions taken by human beings have a negative or a positive impact on all other human beings. It very much matters what we do. If only that observation were EVER true. It is not. All actions taken by human beings have a negative or a positive impact on all other human beings. It very much matters what we do. Yes, even in our own bedrooms. Things which are not inherently and naturally sound and ordered toward goodness are wrong no matter when or where they are performed, and there are victims to all so called "victimless" crimes.

At any rate, progressivism, modernism, post modernism, moral relativism, and a general apathy towards all matters philosophical or theological by the seeming majority of the persons in contemporary western society as a whole don't bode well for our future as a civilization. Each time this rampant decay of morality has set forth it's course in civilizations past, it has been the underpinning reason for the fall and collapse of that civilization. We have not yet passed the tipping point, where our society can no longer be righted, but we are teetering dangerously close. The metaphor of a cancer is a very good one. It is a good time for prayer, and speaking up for tradition, the family, morality, right, and the principles of American freedom and justice. One of the last great modern ideals worth investing ourselves into.

May God bless and keep us all from further harm, as we continue to sort this whole business of society and civilization out.
