Paul Ryan says that he read her books as a youth but was not influenced by her. In April, he gave an interview to National Review in which he repudiated Rand entirely. In the interview, he called reports of his adherence to Rand's views an "urban legend" and said that he was more deeply influenced by his Roman Catholic faith and by Thomas Aquinas.

But that's not the way he was talking in 2005, when he gave a speech to the Atlas Society, a group dedicated to promoting Rand's beliefs.

In that speech, Ryan said, "I grew up reading Ayn Rand and it taught me quite a bit about who I am and what my value systems are and what my beliefs are. It's inspired me so much that it's required reading in my office for all my interns and my staff."

That weasel credited her with helping form his political views. He carried her books around and gave it as Christmas gifts to staffers. But then the good Catholic Wonder Boy got rebuked severely by the Catholic bishops for his bare bones approach to the poor and infirm. The nuns started their bus tour... but Ryan did not want to meet with them. Now, what about Ayn Rand? Meh... she's not that imporatnt, just someone Ryan read when he was ' young and impressionable'.

    Lying sack of horse .....

Also, just so you know he may not have lied. People's views do change over time...

A genuine change in views is not a flip flop. I don't know if Ryan flipped or truly changed his beliefs. Romney on the other hand flip flops...

hard for me to tell the difference between change in views and flip-flopping.

Change of view is when you truly believe the different thing. A flip-flop is when you change your views for other reasons (such as political ones).
