Is Opposition Against George Zimmerman Going Too Far?

The shooting of Trayvon Martin has quickly spiralled from a unique and layered homicide case to a large-scale political battlefield. The vague and complicated circumstances that led George Zimmerman to shoot and kill 17-year-old Martin have even led some to engage in a "KillZimmerman" campaign on Twitter.

According to The Daily Caller, an anonymous person set up a KillZimmerman Twitter account on March 24 with the rally cry, "No Justice No Peace" -- a phrase infamously tied to the 1992 Los Angeles riots surrounding the Rodney King incident -- with an image of Zimmerman in a crosshair. Though no attempts have yet been made on the shooter's life, the movement is openly and unabashedly adopting the stance that Zimmerman is guilty, that the crime was probably racial, and that he should be dealt with "the same way Trayvon was." Do you think the opposition against George Zimmerman is going too far?

This type of behavior isn't justice. It's revenge, and that leads to more hate and more violence and usually against those who are innocents. Claiming racial prejudice is just a cowardly catalyst to get the ball rolling.
Newspapers and Television News don't care whether or not he might be innocent or guilty so long as it drives ratings up, they'd dance for joy while America burned if they got ratings.
IF we are to be a nation of laws we must put faith in our laws to be just and fair. It's our job to maintain those laws by keeping honest people in public office, so if you have issue here, do not blame the laws; blame the media and blame corruption for they allowed a situation to arise.

..... we're being led around by a nose-ring Latrice and the Media is tuggin' at the ring.

Funny that the Media makes note of ' Numerous 9-1-1 calls ' but mentions no reason for a Neighborhood Watch .... obviously there was a problem with crime to bring about a Watch Group.

If parents lived in the Gated Community as claimed, how could Martin have been unknown to Zimmerman .... somthin' ain't addin' up.

Why did media release Altar Boy pic of Martin and Mugshot of Zimmerman ... guarantee you, since he has a LTCF they have a recent pic on file at Sheriff's office.

Seems the Media and many more want a Mike Nifong style case here .... why ?

I know the far Left (Al/Jesse) are pulling the strings for their own gain; the same with the far Right who tries to paint Martin as a gangster and false stories about him. All in all, it is a complete mess with both sides wanting to gain grounds with voters. I'm not falling into the trap; but I do feel the the non bias information that has come out points to Zimmerman over reaction.

"If parents lived in the Geted Community as claimed, how could Martin have been unknown to Zimmerman .... somthin' ain't addin' up."

Trayvon was visiting, which is why most didn't know him.

"Why did media release Altar Boy pic of Martin and Mugshot of Zimmerman ... gaurantee you, since he has a LTCF they have a recent pic on file at Sheriff's office."

Granted that Zimmerman does have a criminal record, though it was bias to show his mug shot and then show pictures of Martin while he was 13. Just like it was bias when fake pictures of Martin started to emerge; I feel both sides are pulling strings and I don't like it.

.... can't have a Criminal Record and a LTCF. As I read it, charges against Zimmerman were dropped.

Just hopin' we don't hang an innocent guy .... and that an innocent kid didn't die .... I can' help but think that if there was a inkling of evidence against Zimmerman that was viable that the DA wouldn't have jumped on it .... they revel in that sort of notoriety.

Oh, you mention ' debunked ' earlier ... Twitter name ?

Aww thank you; here it is, http://patdollard.com/2012/03...

Many including I presumed Zimmerman didn't have a head injury; he did. Not major, but MSNBC did previously lie about it and showed old pictures of Martin.

This case is confusing at times though; the funeral director states he saw no signs of fight on Trayvon knuckles.

    A beautiful Friend !

Not confusing at all Latrice when we're being mislead ... aggravating, infuriating, yes .... especially when a life is involved.

A good shove or kick could be the reason for clean knuckles, although on the other hand the head contusion could be self-inflicted .... only 1 guy knows for certain .... well, the Big Guy up there knows too !

Hopefully we see nothing but clean, unadulterated justice.

I wish people would just leave it alone and let the system work first. If there is perceived injustice when it all plays out, then people might have a case. However, making up stuff and inciting violence makes people believe there is injustice even when there isn't. Anytime Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton get involved people get upset.

We all should feel sorry for the parents of any child that is killed. People always carry things to the extreme. I'd just like to know the truth, that's it, nothing more and nothing less. We can all speculate and make accusations but it doesn't do anything more than further divide us.

My problem with the race baiting is that it stirs up racism. I have black grandchildren and when they get everyone all riled up it makes everything that much worse. Mine have never experienced racism that they're aware of. Now, my oldest granddaughter plays highschool softball and the black female coach has said very inappropriate things and the Athletic Director and the coach are trying to turn it into a race thing and it isn't. The AD is also black. He said he would investigate it and the only girl he talked to was my granddaughter, apparently because he thought she would be sympathetic to the coach? The coach said that people don't like her because she's black and all my granddaughter could say is that "everyone likes me and I'm black". I deplore race becoming an issue when it shouldn't be. It dilutes and desensitizes them to the point where they don't pay attention to real racism.

I haven't seen a shred of evidence that this was based on crime or the damn hoodie that everyone is so focused on.

    I get that, but it works both ways and I could go on about my personal experiences as well Gracie. There is a lot of evidence that shows Zimmerman could be guilty. From his brother, dad and himself having different variations of what happened that night, to Zimmerman changing his story three times, here is something to think about;

And like I said before how much better would it have been if those images would have been put out in the beginning? I'm not sure why they tried to portray him as a pre-teen, it was dishonest and made people suspicioius.

The justice system hasn't had a chance because everyone is interfereing. They put out the name of the 13 year old witness. How would you feel it that was your child who witnessed it? I'm sure he's scared to death and rightfully so.

Today they called for a boycott of white businesses in Sanford. They act as though it was an organized attempt to assissinate black children by white people. This could have happened to a white kid as well as a black kid. I've got some white kids on my route that are far scarier than he was. There has been no real concrete evidence of racism but no one really seems to care about that. They're ready to lynch Zimmerman.

Al the idiot is the one who called for boycotts; NAACP has even distance themselves from him due to his idiocy.

As for the racism on Zimmerman's part; it's possible, just not concrete. The problem is there are both sides flaming the fire.

There are blogs and false accounts trying to tarnish Trayvon and others like Al trying to use the tragedy for profit. Both extremes disgust me.

Sad to say most people seem to have forgotten the whole Innocent until Proven Guilty concept that our entire Justice System is supposed to be built on.

Though I do find it highly ironic that people are calling for lynch mob vigilante justice against a man that is accused of a vigilante style killing.

It's not gone too far. People who think it has, also think this is an isolated incident. Sadly, the news can't cover all news, due to ratings and priority of news. Trust me, I work in media.

The truth is, is that this happens a lot more than officials like to admit. People are protesting the lack of justice given to the survivors of victims of similar incidences, using Trayvon Martin's case as a prime example.

Sorry but asking for trust and then admitting to working in media pretty much guarantees the opposite from me.

Fair enough, sorry for my part in the confusion.

Back on topic I'd love some links to these other incidents if you have them.

All the ones I've seen pushed by the mainstream networks tend to be pretty hard to say the shooting wasn't partially caused by the victim's actions.

Sorry if I'm blunt, but confront a person in their back yard at night wearing a mask and holding a 14 inch long club, and I'd be more surprised if you aren't shot.

That said people on both sides of these "self defense incidents" need to calm the hell down. If you carry a gun, you have more responsibility to avoid confrontation.

Even if you don't, calm down, and back off. Fighting over something stupid isn't worth it.
