Is Obama's 2008 Campaign Slogan of 'Hope and Change' Still Real or Is It Laughable?

There are ugly ads and dirty politics on both sides this year for the 2012 presidential election. Obama Deputy Campaign Manager Stephanie Cutter has been accused of lying of her knowledge of the the latest attack ad's contents.

In case you missed it, there was an Obama Super PAC ad trying to link Romney to a woman's death from cancer because he ran a business that needed to close a factory. A man lost his health insurance and his wife died because they could not afford the treatment. Hanging that on Mitt Romney is a horrific claim. Even Democrats agree. In fact, it seems like the lowest form of dirty politics we have seen in recent memory.

I would expect this sort of thing from most politicians but it was coming from the guy whose 2008 campaign slogan was "Hope and Change." Maybe he meant "I hope not to change anything in Washington" -- because that's what it looking like. Do you still believe that Obama is trying to change the culture of Washington in a positive way or is it more business as usual?

FOXNEWS.COM reports:
Mitt Romney asked Thursday where all the hope and change has gone, as President Obama's supporters pressed ahead with plans to air a misleading TV ad and a top campaign aide was accused of lying about her knowledge of its contents.

He had two terms to get Osama, but he didn't. He didn't do it all, either. Cheney helped tremendously.

They had a Republican-dominated Congress for six years. That includes the time when they dropped the ball on Katrina and all that time they let Osama get by and when the recession was in its initial stages. I left Congress out because I was just being polite.

He surely has accomplished a lot . About 15 trillion more debt than we had before. I didn`t like Bush either. Obama is just following his footsteps. As he followed, as he followed, as he followed, etc., etc. I think the politicians, Obama included should pay off this debt exclusively out of their own pockets and stay out of ours.

Why is it that Americans do not hold their elected officials accountable for their lies? They make a promise and then do the opposite, why do we allow it? The only change is that everything has got worse.

You are correct to ask such a question. We have allowed our "public servants" to become our masters. Now we shall pay the price. We all have hell to pay and it's upon us.

It was that Ivy league fool John Kennedy that signed on to public employee bargaining rights at the Federal level and it came trickling down. In the private sector we have market forces at play. Within the public sector they can print, tax and make promises our kids won's be able to afford. Well California for one is in for it. No new taxes this year; you just watch.

The US 'democracy' system is set up to not have people vote for third parties, but against the other villain, so the oligarchy in charge stays in charge.

Yes this makes since. And I appreciate you sharing it with me and anyone else listening. Multiple parties would spread the money and power to thinly. Now they can donate equally and can't lose. Hey maybe if we had a lot of parties it would cause more lobbyists and they in turn would go to war among themselves and voila no more lobbyists. I met a retired lobbyist recently he's a human being like me. Surprise surprise surprise. I never would have thunk it so.

If what the impostor has done to America and our Constitution in the last 3.5 years wasn't so catastrophic his slogan would be laughable. We know the "hope" part is a dirty inside joke between him and his Fascist buddies. We are all aware of what "change" means to an impostor who is intent on killing America and bringing on tyranny and globalism.

"Smears, special interest, and Division" should be his new mantra.
Every attack against Ho, Bo and Co's opponents have backfired on the progressives.

Stephanie Cutter of the Obama campaign has broken FEC rules by organizing that disgraceful ad and then she lied about it publically only to be caught red handed!

It's not the first time Obama's campaign has broken the election rules. His 2008 money machine was funded by terrorists and international felons like Nadhmi Auchi (Iraqi billionaire who stole Food for Oil funds), Norman HSU, Tony Rezco and they lied about those contributions when they were caught.
He only gave back Hsu ($72K) and Rezko (first $66K, then when caught lying $86K, then when caught lying again $150K and now caught lying YET AGAIN OBAMA, it's $250k) when publically called on their involvement in his campaign.

Shame on the contributors to Obama's superpac Priorities USA. Are they proud of how their money was spent on slander, deception and lies?

Hope is like riding a carousel horse; no matter how fast you go you never get closer to the one in front. The idea, however, is to persuade you to stay on the horse, despite the inevitable disappointment, in the 'hope' that things will change. But they don't because the very system is designed to prevent it.

Obama's mantra of "change". - - - Indeed, his massively-funded, record-breaking campaign was based on that one word - change. This is highly effective because, at any point, the system ensures that most people are not happy with the way life is. So, when you don't like the status quo, 'change' can be a potent message, even if, like Obama, you don't say what it means.

Hope and change never meant a thing other than what the believer wanted it to mean.

Question is what did they ever mean? They were just two words that without clarification had no real meaning. Just like “forward” does now. Watch these this video by Bill Whittle (one of my favorite Conservative commentators). It explain so much about This “Hope and Change” crap.

He's made changes alright, changes that have destroyed hope. When the government creates a 2700 page screed on how health care is to be delivered and administered you just created a document that will destroy creativity and innovation in that area of the economy with tentacles that reach far beyond health care.
