Is North Korea’s surprise rocket launch a sign of a failed U.S. policy?

Fresh off its successful rocket launch, a defiant North Korea released new images and control room footage of the feat which the U.S. and other nations have labeled a "provocative" act.

The rogue regime fired the long-range rocket into space Wednesday, defying international warnings and taking a major step forward in its quest to develop a nuclear missile. While the stated purpose was to put a weather satellite into orbit, the three-stage rocket's deployment also demonstrates the nation's ability to send a nuclear warhead as far as California, and raises the stakes in the international standoff over North Korea's expanding atomic arsenal.

Even if they could launch a rocket and kill a few million people we could immediately whipe their whole country off the map. People who are threatened by this don't understand the way nuclear war works. There is a reason why the USA and Russia have never engaged in nuclear war. There is also a reason why no country has ever used a nuclear weapon besides the United States. We are in control of that kind of war.

If you had any idea how simple missiles were, you would wonder what took them so long.

It is a sign of the evil path the current leadership of N. Korea is following.

Shephard Smith.. are you trying , as do so many many anti Americans try , to blame what other nations do on Americans?

Are you insane???? America does not nor has it ever truly controlled N. Korea .

Smith, who is Harrison J. Bounel?? Are you capable of being loyal to American freedom and constitution or is it all about the ratings for you ( MONEY )

Your questions go further and further away from where a human who loves dignity and freedom of other humans . Are you able to grasp the import of that or do you have multiple stupid underlings to let you lose sight of humanity for you ?

Choose. Be HUMAN in favor of life.

There is a lack of repect for the United States because of Obama. North Korea is one of the few nations to openly express it.

There have been several incidents where North Korean missiles have entered Japanese air space. The Japanese should take out the missiles with their Aegis cruisers, and then launch their F-15s to take out the North Korean launch site. Alternatively, they could request US assistance under the US-Japan mutual defense treaty of 1960.

The invisible hand guiding North Korea is China. If we want the North Koreans permanently out of the WMD business, there is a solution. Put China on notice that the US will offer to station nukes in Japan and South Korea to offset the North Korean threat. I doubt there is much the Chinese could do in response that they aren't doing already.

It's a sign that North Korea is a sovereign nation that can do whatever the h*ll it wants to. If they attack someone, they will have to suffer the consequences.

I don't play games or used words that belittle women. I was taught to respect all people whether they deserved it are not. Cause Yahweh will judge me on how I treat other and not how others treat me. If you are going to continue to disrepect your self and others, , , please do us all a favor and replace your profile picture cause Wonderwoman stands for respect and beauty. You are disrepecting her image.

Please you need a good hug and kiss! ! ! I don't know what man in your world mistreated and abused you but I am not him. I would never ever think of using you or any woman as a trash can. By belittling men will not make the pain go away, You got to pull your self togather, hold your head and know that without a doubt you are a very beautiful lady and that why men react the way they do. Being beautiful and sexy come with a price and if you don't like the attention, you can always walk outside looking like the wicked witch. I just hate to see good girl with bad attitudes. I am sure you is a beautiful, sexy and fun to be around lady.

Thank you for using words that show how intelligent, respectful and thoughtful you can be. I am glad that you is a Wonder Woman fan as well. Wonder Woman is a very good role model for both men and women, but Batman is my number one superhero. The film industry just have not found another female that embody the role of WW like Linda Carter. But getting back to N. Korea is only trying to get the spot light shine on them in the world media. N.Korea is not a major player in the world and they are trying to get access onto the world play ground.

It has nothing to do with U.S. policy. Unless you erroneously believe that the US is in control of north korea, what a different country does is entirely up to them.

And if they send a nuke toward California, there can be only one response - total annihilation of North Korea. They need to know that loud and clear. China better stay out of it or we'll release our full nuclear inventory on them. They all need to know we mean business
