Is Nancy Pelosi Comparable to Winston Churchill?

Outgoing House Majority Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been called a lot of things lately, most of them unprintable. But on "Fox News Sunday," NPR's Mara Liasson hit upon a new one: Winston Churchill.

"Nancy Pelosi did two things for which she will go down in history: she was an incredibly effective majority leader and speaker when there was an opposition president; she helped make the majority. And when she was in the majority, she was the hammer that got through President Obama's agenda and sent it to the Senate. However, that is a completely different role than what she wants to do now, for which I think - she's kind of like Winston Churchill. I mean, she accomplished historic things for the Democrats and they should be sending her off in a blaze of glory, and adjusting for this new regime."

Meanwhile, Brit Hume is having none of it, as you'll see in the clip below.

What utter and total rubbish - to compare Nancy Pelosi with the man who steeled the British people to resist a cruel and oppressive threat to their freedom at a time when the British people stood alone is an insult to his memory and to our intelligence. I think that Winston Churchill would be especially upset to learn how little his contributions are valued by some if Nancy Pelosi and a health care bill is considered equivalent.

You have to be kidding - comparing her to Churchill is like comparing a tank to a Mazerati convertible.

Nancy has been a strong house speaker and obviously an effective one since she has upset so many republicans and conservatives. BUT, I do not think she is a strong "spokesperson" in the public arena... and, unfortunately, the same goes for Harry Reid. The Dems need people who can go before the public and make a difference... right now only Obama plays this role effectively.

Mara Liasson is worried about getting the Juan Williams treatment from NPR for regularly appearing on Fox News. Insulting famous conservatives is a time worn technique for ingratiating oneself with the left wing media. Comparing Winston Churchill to Nancy Pelosi is the ultimate insult to Churchill. That's the only explanation I have for a normally intelligent woman like Mara Liasson making such an incredibly ignorant statement.

The "top opinion" (by mickrussom) illustration of how stupid and/or dishonest Pelosi-haters are. He checked "YES" for is obvious a resounding NO answer !!!!

Now if Pelosi were REALLY as bad as conservatives and/or Republicans claim that she is then they would be delighted that their liberal Democratic rivals have such poor leadership (just as WE were delighted that the Republicans were stuck with "W" and when nutcases like Christine O'Donnell & Sharon Angle knocked off better Republicans in their Senate primaries, etc.)

But it's PRECISELY because Nancy is such a great leader that they hate her so much, and if Democrats have any sense, they'll keep her as their General and continue to drive Conservatives CRAZY !!!!

I definitely want to see NP kept on as minority leader and I mean that sincererly. The GOP might pick up another 65 seats in 2012 if she does. NP was a strong leader. How else can you explain her being able to whip nearly all the democrats into positions their constituents opposed? While her abilities were effective in getting unpopular legislation passed it could not overcome the tidal wave that hit last Tuesday. The defining political sign said it all: "Shove it down our throats in December and we'll shove it up your ass in November". Both happened.

If Nancy Pelosi should be compared to Churchill, it should be Churchill Downs. There is a lot of stuff lying on the ground at Churchill Downs that has a lot in common with Mrs. Pelosi's ideas and activities. Pelosi's victories in the House have no more longterm benefit to the people of the U.S. than Secretariat's. However, Secretariat fulfilled his purpose of providing entertainment. Mrs. Pelosi's job is not entertainment, but that is basically the only lasting legacy that she will have. I would rate her entertainment avlue as somewher between Moe Howard and Larry Hagman (as J.R. Ewing.) Pelosi's line, when asked why she thought the health care mandate was constitutional could only exclaim, "Are you serious?!!!! Are you serious?!!!!!"

Not a bit. Churchill was a true statesman, honest, brave, and selfless. Pelosi is just a power grabbing whore with no ideology other than than staying in office and spending taxpayer dollars on herself. Churchill bucked the system in the UK to get the fight against Hitler started. Pelosi doesn't buck the system, she simply uses it to her personal advantage. They're as opposite as night and day.

OK, I'm game. Explain to me why Pelosi is a true stateswoman. My picture of Pelosi may have offended you, but it was only in response to the plastic surgery comment (i.e., just a joke). Explain to me how Pelosi stands up to the likes of Churchill.

As WWII was getting underway, Churchill was practically laughed out of the Parliament building because he could see that Hitler was a world level menace. All the appeasers were proven wrong when Hitler invaded Poland, and Churchill was elevated to Prime Minister. And instead of promising a quick and easy victory, he said to his people "all I have to offer you is blood, sweat, and tears." Pelosi's great quote is "we'll have to pass it to see what's in it."

I've distorted nothing. Churchill was a great man, and Nancy Pelosi is an evil, selfish, power hungry devil who cares nothing about her country. But, I'll give you a chance. Explain to me, using facts, why Nancy Pelosi is a great stateswoman.

Ward Churchill, yes, but not Winston.

This comment from this liberal moron, has got to be up there with Hank Johnson's concerns that Guam might tip over. That, is why the Democrats lost 60 plus seats last Tuesday, The whole lot of them, are either brain-dead morons or completely out of touch with the American voters.

Thank you for reminding me of the honorable Hank Johnson and his geology lesson. He is starting a new society for individuals with certain IQ levels. He and Milwaukee Board of Supervisors member, Peggy West, (who expressed frustration with Arizona passing SB 1070 because according to Peggy, Arizona is not a border state like Texas), are charter members of this group. It's named The Densa Society.

You're most welcome! Yes, Peggy West is the other one that was on my mind when I posted my earlier comment, I just didn't know her name. LOL!! "Densa Society" How appropriate.

For years, I suffered through being represented by Cynthia McKinney(she's the one that slapped the Capitol Policeman back in I believe 05 and every time I went to the polls, I was hopeful that this might be the year we get rid of her. Imagine my glee, when in 2006, the election results came back and she had at long last been defeated by you guessed it, Hank Johnson. Little did I know it at the time, but that was an "out of the frying pan into the fire" kind of victory. In his defense, I did read recently that he was diagnosed with Hepatitis C which causes him to lose track of his thoughts. That could be a legitimate explanation for such a bizarre comment. At least I hope that is why he made that comment.

And, we mustnt leave out our illustrious President who WOWED us not once, not twice, but three times with his unforgettable "Navy Corpse-man" comment. That would not necessarily be news worthy, if he were not the COMMANDER IN CHIEF!!!!. Alright, I'm done venting.

You can compare anything to something else, they don't have to be alike. The real test is the results. Lets see what we get:

    Winston Churchill: Male

    Nazi Pelosi: Female

    WC: Prime Minister

    NP: Evil Bitch

WC: Looks like fat old British Dude

NP: Looks like plastic surgeons pet project

    WC: Conservative

    NP: Socialist

    WC: Talented Artist

    NP: Talented Liar

WC: Famous for doing a good job

NP: Famous for doing nothing productive

    WC: Leader
    NP: Dictator

Yep, we can compare them, but they aint alike.

Another Conservative who dropped out of elementary school and doesn't know the meaning of "comparable". (things that "aint alike" are by definition NOT "comparable")

Are you also a Christian who claims to believe in the Ten Commandments in court houses, so that you can FORGET about them on public forums,
Can you read as far as Commandment IX, which reads : "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor"?
Do you think Nancy isn't a neighbor because you don't live next door to her?

I love the leftist approach: "Jesus said you had to be nice to us, but we don't think that he meant that if we respected him that we should be nice to you."

I think the secular version of the golden rule is that "If he did that to me, that must be what he WANTED me to do back to him, or he wouldn't have done it."

Adj. comparable with - similar in some respect and so able to be compared in order to show differences and similarities; "pianists of comparable ability"
