CHARLOTTE - Mitt Romney requested "several" years of tax returns from his potential running mates, a senior adviser
to the candidate said Saturday, suggesting that those considered for
the ticket may have been required to reveal more financial documents
that the candidate himself.



In a briefing with reporters in Virginia Saturday, senior adviser Beth Myers,
who was charged with headed the vice president selection process,
declined to specify exactly how many years of tax returns were required,
saying only that "several" were requested.



Several, by definition, implies more than two years.



Romney, who has been under intense pressure to release more of his own
tax returns by both Democrats and members of his own party, has so far released his 2010 returns and an estimate for his 2011 returns.



The campaign has said that the full 2011 returns will be released sometime before the November election.



When asked why he does not put the criticism to rest and just release
more of his tax returns, Romney has said that no matter how many he
decided to make public, there will always be a call to give more.



And while Romney's own father, George Romney,
released 12 years of tax returns during his bid for the presidency, the
candidate today cites Sen. John McCain as the one who set the precedent
to release just two years.

    Romney basically gave Obama another term with his pick for VP. He lost the very voters he needed to put him over the top. Independents and moderates will never go for a Romney/Ryan ticket. Maybe he didn't really want to be president.

Mitt Robmey showed up for the RNC in a private yacht registered in the Caymans instead of his private plane. The Pope flies Alitalia. He buys a ticket.

    My biggest fear is, are people going to buy into his "I can do a better job" theme, but what "IS" the plan?
    How exactly is he going to create "more jobs" than what's being done, and available right now - And don't say Corporate Tax cuts... the Reagan-era corporate tax loopholes don't work - just like that "trickle down theory."

    If it actually trickled down the division of wealth would be at least 60-40 and not 5% vs. 95% Anytime you have a corporate crook saying Fraud Is Good (just like Greed), they need to be stopped!!!

    Of course Mitt Romney is a hypocrite. Do you have to ask.? He is also a puppet used by the LDS Church. "Romney and his religion seem well-suited. In June 2011 cover story, Newsweek magazine stated the the LDS church "resembles a sanctified multinational corporation-the General Electric of American religion, with global ambitions and an estimated net worth of $30 billion." The PBS special 'The Mormons' estimated the LDS Church's worth at over $80 billion. Other estimates have placed it in excess of $100 Billion, as it is the wealthiest per capita religion in the world with annual, mostly tax-free revenues estimated to be $6 billion per year. (per Time Magazine in 1997).

    Mitt Romney with the LDS Church is as much a hypocrite as the Catholic Pope and Vatican. They are all religions for making huge profits, not for charitable needy. The U.S. govt. should start taxing churches; which would better help American economy then these churches do. Legally churches don't have to pay capital gains taxes on donated stock holdings.

    College records don't mean a damn to me. Tax returns do. George Romney set the standard of 12 years disclosure when he ran for president. I find it odd his son can't or won't do likewise.

    Well, I don't happen to care about Obama's college records. He could have flunked Philosophy and/or aced Physics. Doesn't mean a damn to me. I don't know how many years of tax returns he did release but I know it was more than one. (And just for the record, I am not an Obama supporter.) But Mitt needs to release his. His father did and every candidate since has. How did Shakespeare put it... "Me thinks thou dost protest too much."
