Is Julian Bond of NAACP Biased?

Has the NAACP become Blinded by Hate?

Julian Bond Gave A speech at Radford University, about his perceptrion of racism in America. He stated that: “We saw hate on display this summer, in town halls and tea parties, subsidized by corporations and their well funded fear machine across the country. Our politics have been poisoned by armed and paranoid self-described patriots drawn from the Taliban wing of American politics, a true fright wing. Once called birchers, now called birthers, spreading lies, and spreading myths.” “Birthers, who challenge Obama’s citizenship, “tea party” members who call for the dismantling of much of the federal government.” “Now race has been added to the brew, greatly increasing its toxicity. The real issue for many opponents today is that we now have a president that they believe is guilty of governing while black.”

Julian Bond, the chairman of the NAACP, gave a typical speech at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina in February of 2006. Of the Republican Party, he said, "Their idea of equal rights is the American flag and the Confederate swastika flying side by side." He called Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and her predecessor, Colin Powell, as tokens.

Why was Harry Reid’s comment not offensive to the NAACP yet Trent Lott had to resign his position? Reid’s comments were that, Obama could be successful as a black candidate in part because of his "light-skinned" appearance and speaking patterns "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one." Reid’s apology was accepted by http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/.element/img/3.0/mosaic/bttn_close.gif“numerous prominent African-American officials, including NAACP Chairman Julian Bond and Attorney General Eric Holder, have called him to offer support amid the controversy that began over the weekend.http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/01/11/reid.obama/index.html

Now this is what Trent Lott said and the context in which it was said. "I want to say this about my state: When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years, either." Lott, R-Mississippi, made the comment Thursday on Capitol Hill during a 100th birthday celebration for Thurmond, who is retiring next month after nearly 48 years in the Senate. He did apologize stating, "A poor choice of words conveyed to some the impression that I embraced the discarded policies of the past," Lott said. "Nothing could be further from the truth, and I apologize to anyone who was offended by my statement." So what was the response from the NAACP and the Democrats in Washington…Lott’s apology ignored, and a witch hunt that ended up with Lott resigning.

Are the Democrats and Republicans being treated differently by the NAACP? Are the lies and hate that Julian Bond spouts racist?

Hypocrisy is running rampant. The NAACP has always been based on hate.

NAACP is a racist and biased either way ya put it. It's just one more of the endless "perks" of being black. Blacks have this and schools solely for them and other things. National Association Advancement of COLORED PEOPLE. If white people had the same thing that would be "racist" now wouldn't it? (NO)

I am so sick of the "race" card. The people can not see that they have overplayed their hand and that by using the "race" card they are only showing their own racist attitudes.

you ask if the leader of an organization that promotes one and only one race if he is baised ? well that is a racist question. it has to be, because it puts Negro's in a bad position, so it has to be racist

Racism is being made far worse by the mouth pieces of the black community. The leaders like this guy are stirring up division.

    Hi NC,

I'm not very educated about the NAACP, but there does seem to be a double standard being applied here. This is especially so considering the fact that Democrats were racist at one time, and later became more liberal in this regard. As this was happening, Republicans admittedly did have a racist period. But at the current time, I see no evidence that either party has a materially different proportion of racist members or supporters. I think the main thing that separates the two parties at the current time is their position on the Tenth Amendment, not race.

I can't believe you even need to ask the question. They're becoming as relevant as the KKK. And recruiting for them too.

Well I did not know the history behind Bond. I realized as I researched that the NAACP has outlived it's purpose. It has become something it was never intended to be, divisive instead of unifying. It perpetuates the victim instead of providing a way to succeed. Since I didn't know I thought others might not know as well

Let's see, a legally incorporated organization that only helps people who match a certain color. If that ain't racist then what is?

What would be the potential for considering the NAAWP? Is that racist?

We need to end all race based programs. They are inherently racist. If everyone is to be judged by their character and qualifications, then the law should not be mandating that we judge by the color of their skin.

I agree it has outlived it usefullness. In todays society yes it is a double standard. One of the biggest problem with organizations like the NAACP it continues to see and treat people as victims.

I wonder why Lott resigned instead of explaining that he is a politician and not a history teacher. That a person isnt definded in a moment of time but thruout his life..thats what hope and change is, giving people the chance to change to become a better person.
Should we now only look at the time in Presedent Lincoln's life when he was a slave owner and shread anyone who dares complement him?

We saw hate on display this year in the way the mainstream media and the administration labeled those who dared to question their agenda as ignorant, rednecks or racists. The continued denial of the core beliefs in the face of what is radical alteration of our freedoms is in direct conflict with most of the American people. I guess I would like to know why Bond is so biased against mainstream Americans of all colors? Is he racist?

Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan , and NAACP Leaders wouldn't have a JOB IF they stopped their Hatred of "others"!!

Like the ACLU, the NAACP's goal IS to destroy Freedom and Liberty for Americans.
