WASHINGTON — Vice President Biden yesterday accused Mitt Romney of carrying out a “full-blown assault” on educators, telling the nation’s largest teachers union that the Republican Party thinks they’re “selfish.”

The spirited defense of educators came as President Obama hopes to fire up working-class and union support in a bus tour that kicks off in Ohio right after the Fourth of July.

“There’s a pretty uniform view held by Mr. Romney and the Republicans in the majority in Congress today — they criticize and they blame you, they make you the fall guy,” Biden told the National Education Association’s annual convention in DC.

“They should be thinking of ways to make your job easier, not more difficult. Instead, they hector, they lecture, and they blame you,” he continued. “I can’t think of a candidate for president who’s ever made such a direct assault on such an honorable profession.

“They don’t understand why you chose to teach in the first place. Honest to God, I don’t think they get it,” he said, claiming that the Republican plan for public education “is to let the states use [federal] Title I dollars to boost enrollment in private schools.”

Romney spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg hit back hard, saying Biden “doubled down on the same policies that have failed to fix our economy and help the middle class.”

“Instead of putting students first,” she continued, “Vice President Biden and this administration have stood with union bosses. Instead of creating good jobs for graduates, this administration has presided over one of the bleakest job markets for young people.”

Some NEA members have grumbled that Obama, who is spending an extended weekend at Camp David, didn’t attend yesterday’s conference, though Biden got plenty of applause during his remarks.

I cannot believe Omen has unchained him from the porch, who cares what Joe Biden says about anyone, he is a crook, and the education system is failing because of liberals like him.

Pointing out the failure of public education isn't an attack it is stating fact. In the last 80 years the dollars wasted on education have tripled, yet results in math, science, and reading have remained the same. We understand completely why the union monkeys choose to teach, it is the only job you can completely suck at and keep it, without fear of ever getting fired.

Biden was talking to the NEA national convention, which is populated by union types. He would say ANYTHING they wanted to hear to get their vote. As a teacher, I can tell you that the NEA is just as far removed from what real teachers do in the classroom as our national government is from what businesses do at their endeaveors. I give Biden's comments about as much validity as I do Disney fairytales.

The fact that this is the 2nd most powerful man in the United States is a testament to the lunacy of the Left.
Instead of solving problems, Democrats attack the person trying to solve them.
They do nothing but attack, demonize, deflect, and blame.

What a pathetically failed and incompetent administration.

The Romney spokesperson had it right,
“Instead of putting students first,” she continued, “Vice President Biden and this administration have stood with union bosses. Instead of creating good jobs for graduates, this administration has presided over one of the bleakest job markets for young people.”

The Liberals have dumbed down our educational system so much that we are graduating kids that couldn't pass the Eight Grade of only a short time ago. Teachers of today are more concerned with their Pensions and retiring early to get all that free tax money.

Ever since the progs hijacked the public education system, redefined teachers as 'educators' in the public indoctrination system ..... teachers ceased teaching the basics and now are puppets of political agendas.

They are used just as police & firefighters to craft speeches of gloom & doom, fear tactics that all three of those public services would go to Hell in a hand-basket if unions were dissolved and people were promoted and kept on the job through performance.

What the raving lunatics like Biden are missing is that far too many of the best for these jobs are kept out due to govt. interference and union control. Eliminate the Department of Education and give control back to the states.

Allow parents to make that choice via a voucher to send their kid to a private school vs a gov't run assembly line of stupidity. Divide the Federal tax dollars based upon attendance records and let the states set up their own distribution programs. Those who choose to continue backing the PS system wouldn't be affected but those who wanted to opt out would have the CHOICE to do so.
