No, it's time to *scrap* gun control, and any other naive political scheme that ignores basic realities about human nature. Instead of promoting hard-and-fast rules for who may possess what, let's just say that people can do what they want with their own lives and property as long as they don't initiate force or fraud against others.

It's time for us to grow up and stop trying to control and micromanage everything in this country...it doesn't work, and it never has! Just ask yourself, in the course of human history, has The State stepping in and prohibiting something ever *bettered* a situation, or merely worsened it?

Hi Sister Jean. I'm Missile's sis-in-law. She has the best heart of anyone I know and believe me, I know some great peeps. I love the very bones of her and then some. Every tragic event like Colorado adds fuel to folks fears. What's wrong with the world? As you are Mandy's friend I know you are a very good person. I'm a heathen just so you know but I am spiritual. Just not into organised religion. Very best wishes from Mandy 1. Missile is Mandy 2 as she is younger than me. :)

Very True but as i read the American people are so misinformed about weapons in this country. Especially automatic weapons and suppressors as well.

Coming to my state on NOV 1st. I've had concealed in CT for 30 years and in OK for going on 4 years and I think Open Carry is a good plan. Think that guy would have stepped into a theater to do that shooting if he had seen many of the ticket purchasers armed?

Kind of a vague, question, TBG. Did you mean to ask if more restrictions should be placed or less? While I'm a bit against selling an anti-tank weapon to the masses, denying citizens the ability to usefully defend themselves only weakens the citizen and make them more susceptible to a police state. "Usefully defend" could be against a wild animal, while hunting, a violent criminal. I've heard from martial arts instructors, that they'd use a gun to defend their home.
While the event in Colorado was horrific, there are a lot more people to die to drunk drivers, automobiles, and even fatty foods then to guns in the US.

Gun Control laws are erratic across the nation. I own a 45 Ruger. It took a couple of days but required nothing more than a $25 fee and a drivers liscence. I live alone in a remote area, keep it loaded at all times, and feel safer with it. However it annoys me that it was so easy to get legally, but then again it is even easier to get an unregistered gun and at other times in my life I have had 3 unregistered guns. The whole system is disfunctional.

I find the question a little vague. Hmmm? 'reform gun control'. Do you mean 'take it back to basics' or do you mean 'make it tighter'? I'm assuming the term 'reform' would meant 'revert back to' (and voted yes) but it could be construed otherwise. The terms 'reform' and 'gun control' do not fit together well. As it stands now, I think most gun laws only make it tougher for law abiding people to access the rights given to us by the founding fathers to own weapons. As it stands now, and always will, NO GUN CONTROL LAWS apply to those with criminal intent. ABSOLUTELY NONE! Even if guns for the civilian population here in the US were banned, you would only open up another underground economy for imported (i.e.smuggled) firearms here like we have now with illegal drugs. Hence the cliche 'when guns are outlawed, only outlaws (and cops) will have guns!

I'm not sure I understood the question! I would assume 'reform' would mean to 'revert to' as in back to basics! In any case, there are two clauses in the 2nd A. There's the 'justification' clause, being the "...well regulated militia...", but then there's the 'operative' clause, "...the right of the People, to keep and ....." Regardless of how the intellectuals want to argue the two points, it's the 'right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms' that seems to say it all, regardless to any justifications!

What's not working and where? Seems to me that our representatives have been making it easier for law-abiding citizens to not only get firearms, but to the carry them in public as well. 49 states now issue 'carry concealed' permits. Not only that, but many states have made 'stand your ground laws' and 'castle doctrine laws' that help in using firearms in self-defense. I reside in Ohio (can't call this living) and I was obligated to jump out a second floor window (since I was physically able to!) to avoid confronting an intruder into my home. Now, with the 'castle doctrine' laws implemented, I can shoot an intruder without fear of prosecution, unless I shoot someone that's legally entitled to be in my home! Sort of narrows the field, to speak.

The only state that still won't issue 'carry concealed' permits, is Obama's home state of Illinois! Something else I don't understand is why do the 4 cities with the strictest firearm laws, LA, NYC, Washington DC and Chicago, have the highest firearm crime rates? The rest are either staying static or declining? They tend to blame the use of and availability of guns on surrounding states, but why are their crime rates so high? Could it be that if you, a law abiding citizen, live there, everyone knows you can't and won't be armed?
