No, it's time to *scrap* gun control, and any other naive political scheme that ignores basic realities about human nature. Instead of promoting hard-and-fast rules for who may possess what, let's just say that people can do what they want with their own lives and property as long as they don't initiate force or fraud against others.

It's time for us to grow up and stop trying to control and micromanage everything in this country...it doesn't work, and it never has! Just ask yourself, in the course of human history, has The State stepping in and prohibiting something ever *bettered* a situation, or merely worsened it?

    No guns period.
I know guns make a lot of simpletons feel like a macho man but I've never had a gun and I will never need one, because when you need one, the bullet on the other side will come so fast you don't have time to find yours. If the burglar or whoever is attacking you sees you with a gun, I guarantee you the chances of you getting shot are 100 more than if you did not have the gun. Because now he's shooting to defend himself.
BAck home in Puerto Rico guns kill >900 every year. and they are used to celebrate on new years eve. Its great to shoot as a sport, but who of you macho mans does that? You want the AK47 and the world is a video game. As I always say, all men are created equal, but the truth is that the average IQ is 100, and there is a good 15-20% with IQ's under 85.....with a minority being Intellectual Disabality or MR/DD (IQ<70). Watch any movie or documentary of African kids with rifles in their hands and if you have any sense of empathy, you will feel sorry for the day humanity started having guns.

In the words of Thomas Jefferson, "The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." He further stated, "The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it." I heed the warnings of the most brilliant of our founders and have awakened to the fact that the government wants to take my guns. Many say that there is no need to possess an assault weapon. I question the difference between an assault weapon and a 9mm pistol. There is no difference, other than in the mind of the person who has their finger on the trigger. To put things in better perspective, planes were hijacked with a box cutter and inevitably led to the murder of nearly 3000 people. Should we then outlaw all sharp objects? The Oklahoma City Bombing was carried out with items that can still be purchased. Why weren’t they outlawed as well? My point is this, if a person wants to commit mass murder, it doesn’t require an assault weapon, it requires an ill mind with the capacity to find a method to commit the act. So, to those of you who would attempt to strip me of my right to protect myself from tyranny, it will be regarded as a tyrannical act and responded to accordingly.

Guns do not kill....people kill. if you restrict the law abiding citizens from protecting themselves (as per the Second Amendment), the criminals will not simply say "Oh no! It's illegal to have a gun, I better not use one"....no, they will say "Cool, easier targets!"

What would you propose we "reform" regarding gun control?

If you want to reform something, how about reforming something that affects EVERY AMERICAN!

Abolish the tax code and pass the FairTax Bill (HR25/S13) and everyone benefits. Gun Control reform would only affect HONEST gun owners while doing nothing to prevent the horrendous events like Columbine or the Movie Theater or the shooting of the Congresswoman in AZ...

We can only hope that our government begins taking down the "Gun Free Zones" that restrict honest citizens from defending themselves.

Virginia Tech lobbied in favor of maintaining the prohibition on honest licensed citizens from protecting themselves while on school campuses. As such, the attacker knew that he would not be stopped by an armed citizen as he proceeded to shoot and kill over 30 DISARMED law abiding citizen students and faculty members.

Mohammad Attah knew that Barbara Olson would obey the law and leave her Glock 19 and her VA concealed carry permit at home before she boarded her ill fated aircraft that was flown into the side of the Pentagon Building.
    Barbara Olson
Yes, the bad guys know that the good folks will obey the law. So if you gotta reform something, stick with reforming our tax laws.

We need swift and fast trials for these people and either put them down or put them in a place so miserable for the rest of there lives that less people will think about doing such crazy things. It's really too late to try and control the gun culture in the USA. It's one thing to be a law abiding citizen having a gun for protection but how do you control the criminals and nut cases? It's a social problem and it ain't gonna get better. It's escalating out of control. I have to say that countries that prohibit gun ownership are safer than those that permit the right to bare arms. Drugs and gang warfare are at the root of the problem. Someone started it rolling. Shame on them. I hope they are burning in hell

I was simply making one simple point that restrictive gun laws won't necessarily prevent what happened in Colorado. While I'm a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment to the American constitution, your point is well taken. It would be much more respected and well received if you hadn't lowered yourself to name calling and insults. First off, you misspelled, "Bear". Also, there is no hell, no heaven, no gods, and anyone who lives for said religious ideals is missing something on Earth. And, if there is a God, he is capable of creating things that are so far beyond the scale of our imagination that any effort we attempt at their comprehension is moot. Do you think he cares about a bunch of ugly little bags of mostly water using peices of metal to deflate each other?

Theological standpoints aside, your opinion is flawed. Every scumbag on Earth can get a gun illegally somehow, and the more limits you place upon the ability of the common citizen to protect themselves, the more helpless they will be to they tyrants, the criminals, and the downright scumbags of the world. When the world is free of violent crime and power hungry governments, I will lay down my weapons of defense voluntarily. But, until then, leting citizens defend their rights is probably the best option.

.Thank God Rick Santurm in no longer running for office..May Clinton never get iF.. I mean a wife is to listen to her Man we are in deep ... I make my point of when clinton sent our troop mixed in with the United nations to WAr Bosnia with Arms and no live ammo..

Story affirmed the right of self-defense by persons held illegally. In his own writings, he had admitted that ‘a situation could arise in which the checks-and-balances principle ceased to work and the various branches of government concurred in a gross usurpation.’ There would be no usual remedy by changing the law or passing an amendment to the Constitution, should the oppressed party be a minority. Story concluded, ‘If there be any remedy at all ... it is a remedy never provided for by human institutions.’ That was the ‘ultimate right of all human beings in extreme cases to resist oppression, and to apply force against ruinous injustice.’” (From Mutiny on the Amistad by Howard Jones, Oxford University Press, 1987, an account of the reading of the decision in the case by Justice Joseph Story of the Supreme Court.
As for grounds for arrest: “The carrying of arms in a quiet, peaceable, and orderly manner, concealed on or about the person, is not a breach of the peace. Nor does such an act of itself, lead to a breach of the peace.” (Wharton’s Criminal and Civil Procedure, 12th Ed., Vol.2: Judy v. Lashley, 5 W. Va. 628, 41 S.E. 197)
    like Body Armor

--- Such to have such -is not a crime.-- not by the standards or views of the framers --._ even the shooter had a right of the use of the tool..He being apart of the real core historical view of what was the 2nd Amendment-- Militia reserves --to have such and not be apart of the Active Militia or Military.. Read up on the Dick AcT 1902-1903 also known as the Efficiency of Militia Bill H.R. 11654, ... This was a Act of War on the fellow Active or non Active Duty memebers of the leagues of Common defense by such a person... in like manor As A non Elected such Appointed leader {Holder} of such a league sought to Act with Constructive treason in mind when the duty should have stoped the sell of a given aid Arms to foes Across a secured Border without a elected voted Consent of Congress for War ..un preovoked..42 USC § 1986 - Action for neglect to prevent

as much as I may dis like his Actions of the shooter @ the moives so as,-Not to say this fellow was in any way with a right to act..-.. In my view the problems was not the One who was armed -he could have used a pin to stab some one--..' being i 1 who was in the Active U.S Military a short time..-- I see this is as yet rather the fault of the Company who did not have Armed personal on Guard point or on post -for such a high profile event-- like say- C.Q. Duty if you will to secure the safty and well being defind by the posted Trespass-- Signed by-- the cited views from say the 3rd Amendment or the rights of Consent of entry or the restraint of..would be oked to be armed or who would not be & where... yes Obama fan Club we are defind by our Borders.. Here is your sign..

Not unless you want to back it off a bit. Banning guns on college campuses worked just fine, now didn't it.... I think if we wish to lessen violence in this country we should maybe go back to where we were when there WAS less gun violence - and that was less legislation about gun control!!

More regulations will have zero affect on criminals who have no intentions of following regulations. I doubt the psycho in Colorado would have cancelled his meticulously calculated attack because the law said he could only have 20 bullets.

We really don't need gun control. We need PEOPLE CONTROL, control of gangs, control of lunatics, control of weirdos and nuts, control of Leftist politicians who destroy our government and our way of life. Liberty is for those with enough sense and self control to use it properly. Someone said on one of these pages recently..." If Guns Kill People, Do pencils misspell words? Does Tobacco cause cancer? No nuts who smoke it cause cancer. Does alcohol cause highway fatalities? No, Drunk drivers cause highway fatalities. Does taxation cause government waste and inefficiency? No, sleasy self serving politicians and their patronized constituents do.

Democracy has finally reached the ad absurdum point in the country

If you can't demonstrate a fitness to govern your own behavior
why should you be voting in the first place! Just because you were born here doesn't mean you are fit to live here! Just because you sneaked into the country illegally doesn't mean we need to grant you and your issue citizenship. Just because great great great etc. grandpa arrive in chains doesn't excuse your sorry behavior. Neither does it excuse your lazy worthless, drug numbed ass if you were born to the manor.

If you can't manage your eating, your smoking, your sex habits, hold ...

If you can't manage your eating, your smoking, your sex habits, hold down a job, get an education, make something of yourself and be a productive member of society , Why in the Hell do the rest of us owe you Obamacare, Disability, Social Security, Food Stamps, Affirmative Action, other preferential hiring, and a whole list of taxpayer funded benefits (not rights)? Tell me, HUH?
