Is It Time to Call for a Second Declaration of Independence & Constitution?

start with a shocking, but true premise: If you are a patriotic
American, you believe that there are circumstances under which it is
right to take up arms against your own government. That statement feels
wrong to me. It reeks of militia and McVeigh and toothless loons holed
up with guns in cabins in order to avoid paying income taxes.

But the fact remains that the rationale for the existence of the
nation known as the United States of America, which first appeared in
print 236 years ago today, is entirely dependent on the premise that
there are indeed times “…when in the Course of human events, it becomes
necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have
connected them with another…” and that such times may require the first
group of people to “…mutually pledge to each other [their] Lives,
[their] Fortunes and [their] sacred Honor.” And that having dissolved
those political bands with another people, the newly liberated people
(“…and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy
War…”) may, among other things, protect themselves from a tyrannical
power which engages in “…a long train of abuses and usurpations,
pursuing invariably the same Object [which] evinces a design to reduce
them under absolute Despotism…”


This is the argument presented to the world by Adams, Jefferson, and
Franklin. It was adopted and approved by the Continental Congress. It
has been graphically represented in the Great Seal of the United States
and it is treated as the origin of the American Republic not just in the
Declaration of Independence itself, but also in the Constitution.


In other words the Constitution was signed in the fall of 1787, which
was during the 12th year of the United States, which places the event
which initiated the Republic sometime before September 1776. Is there
any other event, save the Declaration, which would fit the historical
bill? Of course not. And just in case any would argue, as Bork tried to
in our debate, that this is simply a matter of a date to which no
significance can be attributed, I would point out that the Great Seal of
the United States, which was the result of several years of
deliberation, labels the foundation (it is a literal architectural
foundation at the base of a pyramid) with the Roman numerals for the
year 1776. In short, the Declaration and the principles on which it is
based are the foundational ideas of our Republic. One can deny their
truth, but one cannot deny their legal authority.


This implies something very important: No governmental official can
deny the right of the people to dissolve the political bands which tie
them to a tyrannical government without at the same time denying the
Declaration and, by extension, the Constitution on which his own power
is based. If he says, “The Declaration no longer applies; you must obey
my authority no matter what.” We can rightly reply, “If the Declaration
no longer applies, then the government of which you are a part no longer
possesses legitimacy; which means you have no authority in the first
place and therefore have no right to demand that we obey.”

    Absolutely not!

    It is time for liberals to attempt to tell us what is WRONG with the founding documents rather than attempt to change them via deception and lies. That is the liberal way though - to change things in a sneaky way because if liberals had to make a point about what they wanted, they couldn't.

    Liberals are leaches on our country and our society in the USA. They only hold the rest of us back with their stupid, false, non-God ideals.

    NO! NO! NO! NO! The Constitution WAS NOT written by the Federal Government and this is a good thing. It was written by the Sates who ceded a small amount of power to the Central government. If the Constitution need changing, there is the Amendment Process. This bunch in Washington has NO business anywhere near that Constitution. The only changes that need to be made to the Constitution is to repeal the 16th, 17th and probably the 12th Amendments. that would get this country back on track.

    For a long time I've believed the real problems of the country started with the 17th amendment. Seems to me with the adoption of the 17th, the states lost their rights. The reasons the founding fathers set it up so that the senators were appointed by the state governments is ................

    1)The place for all the hate and discontent, arguing, bickering, and partisanship is the house of representative...........

    2)Ensure the states got what they needed and had a voice at the federal level.....

    3) Most importantly. Keep power away from the central government.............

    If you're a senator are you gonna vote to get rid of an almost certain life time appointment?

    That's right. The job of a Senator is to protect the power of the State and they won't do that as long as they are elected by the people. It's ridiculous to think that there are two political bodies that represent the people but none representing the States. Also, prior to the 17th, the Senators worked at the pleasure of the Governor.     Contrary to what the Progressives want everyone to think, the Constitution is NOT a living document that needs to "evolve" like Oslime. If there is an identified problem the mechanism to change it has always been in place: Amend it.

    Progressives would love nothing better than having an opportunity to destroy the Constitutional protections that have defended generations of Americans. If anything, we should rescind all Amendments that have been enacted since our govt was STOLEN back in 1913.

    I rather like the one we have now . We just need to " Restore It " to its original importance . It has been ignored for some time now and if we are to survive as a nation , It Needs To Be Held High ............. and not ignored - or - gotton around as progressives tend to do .

    For a start, from one vet to another many thanks for your service One. And second, like you, I've been asking myself that very same question. This sorry excuse of a human is slapping all of us vets and making a mockery of our service to this fine nation. I retired back in 98 myself. And it just makes me sick to see what our country has become.

    I'm medically retired after 9 yrs and thanks for yours, but why do we have such stupid Americans living in this country supporting this serpent and all he does is crap all over us...     My friend that is a very good question for sure. I don't know "how" to answer that one. I noticed a real change back in 85 when I came back from S. Korea. I spent a 1 year short tour over there and when I got back things seemed like a night and day difference to me. And it seems like it's been going down hill since then. I don't know what happened with out country and its citizens. It's messed up for sure. Of that I "am" sure of

    It was set in stone for me every evening for 3 months in P.I. it was always God, Country, Corps you had to work and sweat and bleed to earn not only money but respect why is it so easy to say... He looks good I'll just attach myself to that guy and his family they look like hard workers I'll just suck them dry they can pay for my bills, my food my hospital and medical coverage oh and my Illegitimate children

    There is a test to see where you fall politically ( sorry I can't find it right now ) . I actually thought that I was a republican most of my life , but found myself on the wrong side of several points . Although I voted Republican 99% of the time , many issues didn't sit well with me .
    Personally I vote on the issues and not the party . Libertarians believe in the U.S. Constitution and " what it says " , not what the lawmakers & courts have turned it into . The central government has siezed To Much Power over the States , Most of which is " Not Permitted Under The Constitution ".

    I won't bother you again , I'm not some nut case . Just thought that you might find it interesting . Have a good one !
