yes it's sad. But the saddest of all is that most of the people voting know nothing about either candidate...they will vote for who looks the best to them...how much money they have....or because that is how their family or friends vote, or because of their color. Reading all these posts here most people know nothing about what is going on in Wahsington...Democrats and Republicans. Just a bunch of hate for what?

Its stupidity actually. Bush destroyed our economy, started 2 unjust wars and cost us over 4000 american lives for a lie.etc. etc.. What is the stupidity? that people could overlook the same traits in Rominee and view that as "OK" because at least he isn't Black. The lies and half truths of the Rominee campaign are continuously facted checked as "Pants on Fire", yet he keeps spewing them and idiots keep believing the BS. Here he is stating, "I Believe the President is an American and born in Hawaii" but courts Trump for the Insane, KKK and completely illiterate vote...Rominee compares with Palin, Both were one term governors that quit after two years, both left state in worse condition than when they arrived and both hope voters are too stupid to keep up with their ignorance on presidentional duties and what a VP does....What is really gonna be telling is who will Rominee get for VP.....

I understand people hating Obama enough to vote for somebody else. But wait! Back in '00 people were so sick of the Dems that they voted in a Rep president and a Rep majority in both the House and Senate. Then in '08 the same voters ousted the Reps and replaced them with the same damn Dems that they had voted out in '00. The Dems had not changed - they were still the same party as they were in '00 - why would anyone switch back to the Dems? Then in mid-term, there was a minor uprising, and Capitol Hill had a minor purge of some of its Dems. Who replaced them? The same party that was voted out in '08.

So why would someone fed up with Obama return to voting for the same party they were fed up with four years ago? The electorate is filled with idiots!

and look what 2000 got us, Bush.......2 unpaid for wars, economic collapse and Bush too scared to even address the nation when the house of GOP cards came tumbling down. Traitors and should be brought up on charges and somehow this "Rominee" copy of Bush, another puppet-in-chief is the GOP solution......not hardly........Rominee campaigning with Meg Whitman as she cuts 27,000 jobs...This is what the GOP stands for...sacrificing peoples lives and well being for a profit...

    >>>and look what 2000 got us, Bush.......2 unpaid for wars, economic collapse<<<

Yep. Bush Jr. was primarily responsible for the timing of the economic collapse, but our previous presidents (everyone on Capitol Hill, actually) has had a firm hand in leading us down this path.

    >>>Rominee campaigning with Meg Whitman as she cuts 27,000 jobs...This is what the GOP stands for...sacrificing peoples lives and well being for a profit...<<<

I believe our country is headed for an economic meltdown, and I would rather see someone step in to fix the problem in a controlled manner, no matter the pain involved, than have to go through an uncontrolled collapse.

But it ain't gonna happen - look at Greece. As soon as politicians began implementing their austerity programs, the electorate voted them out of power in favor of the do-nothing politicians. The same goes for our government. But if we were to end up with a 30+% unemployment rate because of the implementation of a true austerity program, I'd cry and moan and beg on the streets - but I'd still vote for those same politicians in the next election. But I'm guessing that the savings from cutting those 27,000 jobs went to line someone's pockets, not to help repair an economic crisis.

True. But some are getting smarter. I think NO ONE thought either party would elect someone so pathetically out of touch and totally incompetent as Obama. For that awakening, I applaud the Democrat Party which finally publicly showed its colors and people have seen it isn't pretty.

    ::shrug::
But what about the RNC this year? Just look at the pathetic offerings they have for us. It's questionable, even with Obama's dismal economic recovery, his disregard for the Constitution, his seeming desire to move us ever closer to a socialistic society, that Romney will be able to beat him.

Why do you think I quit the Republican Party?! Because it has become little more than Democrat-Lite. I go Libertarian. However, one of the best things that could happen to this country would be for us to abandon all political parties.
  • cellophane Tasine 2012/06/01 15:10:21

I think political parties could fill a niche. But parties would have to be specific as to what they stand for. For example:

We all KIND OF know that Republicans are very often tied to the Christian Religious Right. We know generally that Republicans tend to prefer tax breaks for the wealthy in exchange for the wealthy creating jobs.

On the other hand, Democrats are far more likely to have government take the citizens by the hand and lead them through this minefield we call life. They also tend to have great heart for the down and out, and they like to see monies from the wealthy go to help keep these people out of poverty. And Dems are far more likely to be concerned for environmental issues even if such concern makes life uncomfortable for them and everyone else around them.

So long as political parties have a "tendency" to do things, there's not much use in having a party. But if, in order to be a Republican candidate, you had to be anti-abortion, right-to-work, anti-gay marriage, and anti-immigration, then I can see how having a party could cut through a lot of "junk" at the get-go and focus questions and debates upon those things that the party doesn't include in its party line.

As far as Libertarian, I tend to lean that direction, but I want more government involvement than hardline Libertarians see as proper (some of them seem more along the lines of anarchists).

You're right about the Libertarians. Some do lean toward anarchism. I favor peaceful anarchism of a sort, whereby laws are few, everybody pays for programs he wants to support and doesn't pay for those he doesn't want to support. Everybody pays for maintenance of infrastructure. Every person's body is his and his alone and he can do with it whatever he chooses as long as it isn't harming others. The only laws that would be laws would be those that penalize people who murder, rape, abuse children, steal from others. Mostly every other thing would fall under what a person should be free to decide for himself.

In my world if one person wanted to ban abortions, he could either gather about him numbers of people to side with him and protect him against those who think that is murder, but there would be no LAW against either that person or those who support him OR those who harass him. No real detail here, but we MUST quit killing freedoms with laws - we already have 3000 pounds if laws in the National Archives. And that's merely FEDERAL laws, which should not be directed at individuals at all.

Something is wrong with the public when they'd willingly sacrifice the security of their Middle Class livelihood just to express their hatred of a President they are neither willing to know or understand - merely because of his color and his Muslim-sounding name.

I hope those middle class workers that are voting for him realize that once the minimum wage is scrapped, they'll lose their jobs to cheap labor which they will then have to settle for themselves!

It might have been 'helpful' had the Pub leadership shown even an ounce of support for the whole country and worked with the Dems to clean up this mess, but their utter failure to do so, wanting only to make him fail and thus the whole country, has cemented our divisivness. That's the status at the moment and god only knows when we will regain our sanity.
