There’re many old and wonderful and wise adages. Naturally, there’s one for this too. It goes like this: They’re two things in life one should avoid in public discussion. It’s religion and politics. I’m sorry, Sister Jean. I’m no help here.

Mommy, would you like a sandwich?
Book 1
I think that our current situation is so bad that people take political questions very seriously. They worse the situations become, the more seriously and heated the responses become. So if you don't want confrontation, ask people's favorite flavor of ice cream.
The thing about politics is that is so controversial and everyone has their own political views. which is great but then there is people who like to pick up fights with those who have a different view, those people should accept the fact that everyone has their own views and for the most part changing their views is no easy task, so why not respect their views.
Everyone has an opinion. Some people just don't have it in them to share an opinion and not go crazy at the same time in lots of instances. I understand that some issues definitely bring out high emotions in all of us at times, but no reason to have to get so nasty and/or mean mouthed.
As long as I know I'm right and you think you're right we'll seldom meet on common ground before the fight is on.
For example. Liberal democrats called me a racist because I said I didn't vote for Obama. I tried to tell them I wasn't and the more I tried to address Obama's policies the more of a racist I appeared to them. They had no idea that I'm married to a black woman. I finally had to put that information on my profile.
We initially were a democratic republic set up to represent the people. The republic now represents the lobbyists and there are very few lobbyists who have the people in their plans. The news media then sways the people to dislike each other so that they can do their devious work while the 99% are busily complaining about each other as their liberties, jobs, and lifestyles are being destroyed. If you don't think that the people are being manipulated and deceived, explain the Iraqi war; a real 'sales job'.
What happens are some facts are distorted to fit their views and many people get mad over that. Others just like to argue to get under your skin. But I have found many who either agree or disagree and still have a good conversation.
Nah, I think that's why people say never discuss religion or politics. My brother in law is coming over this Thanksgiving. .....he's a stone cconservative, and I'm a card carrying marxist, so we're just gonna eat turkey, watch football , and keep the words to a minimum.
Well I am in the minority on this one. I believe it is possible to have rational and informative discussions by thinking and open minded adults. I do find it both funny and depressing that some people will let themselves degenerate into childish name calling squabbles. Like any family we are all not going to agree on every subject matter. When you don't the better course is to agree not to agree and leave it there.
There's always some one ready with some much repeated rhetoric ready to pounce around here but if you ask a fair question and don't phrase it like when did your family stop living with pigs and you're truly interseted in an answer, some folks will step up. You just have to skip over the parrots.
you'd think if folks could just state an opinion ,politically positive or negative ,, and be taken as such ,then it could stay as just than ,,then ya get some one telling another they an idiot /misinformed / or what ever ..then the debate /fight is on ,, I have to say I'm ocassionally guilty to defending my opinion , agressively some times ,,,,,
As long as there are trolls, cyber bullies who love to fight and meanies who must have the last word, the answer is no. I usually give them one comeback and then I'm done with them. I am occassionally guilty of feeding the troll, shame on me.

Let me get back to you on that.....
NOWHERE do I read that I have an option to make sure the government does this for me. the gov needs to stay out of the charity business.
If they feel compelled to help out, they can lift the cap on charitable contribution deductions.
any more I just let the debate go .....
