I would like to start this discussion with a disclaimer. I am merely speculating here and really do not want to offend anyone but when viewing the concept of God through science things can seem a bit disturbing at times. Several years ago I may have been offended by such a question so I understand if someone gets upset but pls keep an open mind.

There is a group of people who have created the Raelian Movement (which has over 35,000 members in 85 countries) that really believe in God as alien. I do not suscribe to their ideologies but often wonder about what exactly is the nature of God. Mind you, I am a Christian by faith but still question exactly who my God is occasionally.

Evolutionists and scientists in general are still debating how life could have started on earth and still are faced with a lack of clear evidence r/t the evolution of man as stated by materialistic based evolution. So then where did we come from?

Here are some web sites r/t this issue:

http://crash.ihug.co.nz/~marshall/aliengod.htm

http://www.mendhak.com/95-is-god-an-alien.aspx

Check "this unexplained world" and on.

An interesting perspective:

How much does it really matter? Whatever, whoever God is, I am grateful!

after someone suggested this before, i've considered it to be more and more likely. i believe a lot of' unexplained' things like that are interlinked, after all there are many claimed sightings of the existence of both UFO's and spirits, yet all 'paranormal' phenemena is highly disputed. it would explain a lot of things such as the ascension of Jesus, the numerous spiritual leaders we've had in ancient times who appeared to have an innate knowledge of things which were yet to be proved by science in those times, and explain some Biblical phenomena too (i believe some of it is just myth, but other things have been found to have been a crude explanation of things we now know from science) for example, Jesus reportedly told people the importance of washing regularly, and until medieval times, as far as i know, the existence and prevention of germs spreading was yet to be discovered...ok that's not the best example but i'm sure there are plenty more.
p.s you might find this article interesting, it was written by my then boyfriend's astronomy lecturer, and raises some good points. http://www.lablit.com/article...

Thanks. The one thing that gets me is the Ezekiel story of a wheel within a wheel. Ezekiel was very motivated to describe what he saw and ended up describing a flying metal craft.

Ruled by Secrecy by Jim Marrs would have you led to that conclusions but there is more than that to consider, I think. If one believes that spirituality has an echelon that rises to the highest point, God, then his book would not eliminate the idea but would only insult the writer of some of the old testament. Humans, on Earth, can be very entertaining by reducing God to their own image and editing a Bible to fit their own purpose and thereby losing the truth of the original message. So by one definition of "alien" I would say God is alien to humans but if we're talking about some super guy from another planet, no way. I don't think so.

I respect this opinion and maybe referring to Him as an alien is not appropiate but he is an extraterrestial by definition beyond that I am not certain how to view him from a scientific perspective.

This could be possible since the bible says he created the Earth. And if their was no Earth he must be a Alien or something.

Who knows, only he himself knows.

Yea, I guess by the strictest of definitions He would have to at least be considered an extraterrestrial entity.

Ahh, the problem of evil. Possibly God is not who we expect Him to be or possibly we mold God into the image that suites us the most.

Not sure but has anyone every heard the work GAIA referring to God? I once was on a website written by someone who had had an out of body experience and he kept referring to God as Gaia.

I think this is the idea that the actual earth and possibly the universe in general is God. Kind of like an form of energy pervasive throughout the universe as opposed to some sort of physical being. A little far out but interesting.

Gaia or Gaea, known as Earth or Mother Earth (the Greek common noun for "land" is ge or ga). She was an early earth goddess and it is written that Gaia was born from Chaos, the great void of emptiness within the universe, and with her came Eros. She gave birth to Pontus (the Sea) and Uranus (the Sky). This was achieved parthenogenetically (without male intervention). Other versions say that Gaia had as siblings Tartarus (the lowest part of the earth, below Hades itself) and Eros, and without a mate, gave birth to Uranus (Sky), Ourea (Mountains) and Pontus (Sea).
Gaia took as her husband Uranus, who was also her son, and their offspring included the Titans, six sons and six daughters. She gave birth to the Cyclopes and to three monsters that became known as the "Hecatonchires". The spirits of punishment known as the Erinyes were also offspring of Gaia and Uranus. The Gigantes, finally, were conceived after Uranus had been castrated by his son Cronus, and his blood fell to earth from the open wound.

That is basically the historic concept of Gaia in recent years environmentalists and new agers have revised this a bit.

A few years ago the history channel had a special on UFO's and the Bible and I watched it several times shocked at the numerous points they made re. eye witness accounts of deity in the Bible and current day eye witness accounts of UFO's. I was shocked because from a purely objective perspective they were correct. The similiarities are astonishing. Now I am not certain what to believe and this bothers me.

All you saw was "yes or no?" I guess you really should go back to your online shopping blogs for a real "brain teaser" or some relevant discussions.
