Is it okay with you for DHS to warrantlessly confiscate your safe deposit box contents?

Walt 2012/03/30 15:53:04
It's okay with me! I don't have anything to hide! (They can confiscate my personal belongings if they want to.)
Governmental privacy intrusions and civil rights violations are way out of bounds. They need to butt the hell out of my personal life.

"All Banks Notified by DHS of Unannounced Warrantless Looting of Personal Accounts or Safe Deposit Boxes"

Excerpt:

"According to in-house memos now circulating, the DHS has issued orders to banks across America which announce to them that "under the Patriot Act" the DHS has the absolute right to seize, without any warrant whatsoever, any and all customer bank accounts, to make "periodic and unannounced" visits to any bank to open and inspect the contents of "selected safe deposit boxes."

Further, the DHS "shall, at the discretion of the agent supervising the search, remove, photograph or seize as evidence" any of the following items "bar gold, gold coins, firearms of any kind unless manufactured prior to 1878, documents such as passports or foreign bank account records, pornography or any material that, in the opinion of the agent, shall be deemed of to be of a contraband nature"..."

This act has never been about protecting us, it is about CONTROLLING us. They can access your records at any time, and no one is allowed to tell you. They can access and steal from your safety deposit box, I don't think the bank is allowed to tell you that either, but I am not positive. They can enter your home at any time and do not have to present you with a search warrant or even notify you! Wake up people!

I'm confused wasn't limiting the Patriot act to only suspected terrorist and ending illegal wire taps part of Obama's Platform in 2008?
    How soon the liberals forget.

True, but in 2008 0bama did not specify who he thought of as terrorists. Subsequently, it has become clear who the administration thinks of as terrorists.

This administration has shown they do not care about the Constitution or your privacy.
Another reason you can't trust your valuables in a bank deposit box anymore....invest in your own secure safe at home.

No but paranoia had the Patriot Act passed and if they do only what they're supposed to do check on lone wolves and suspected terrorists I have no problem but the government is notorious for abusing their power.Fight City Hall syndrome.

No matter WHO, with our without a "warrant", should have any "right" whatsoever in anyone's bank account. Yet the IRS has had such rights for darned near forever, including the right of seizure without a hearing. This is another reason never to file that 1040 and thereby "admit your guilt".

Well folks...isnt this enough to prove that our 'government' is out of control and drunk with power? The Obama administration is at war with us, and they arent hiding it anymore.
Did you know that the DHS has also put on order up to 450 MILLION rounds of .40 caliber hollowpoint bullets?
Why would they need all of those? Hollowpoints arent used for target practice, that much I can tell you...WTF are we doing about all of this? Not a goddamn thing!

Think my answer sums it all up. We are ever closer to the history some European Countries of the late 20's and 30's than we are here during the 50's, 60's, and 70's. We have already started down the slippery slope, and are picking up speed.
