I have a sense of humor, but I think it's a really hurtful thing to say. She may not be the most beautiful woman ever, but she is pretty and its more about who she is.

I have a hard time thinking someone is pretty or ugly without getting to know them or learning more - typically, I think they're okay and then, as I learn more/get to know them I will either find ugly things about them or find them to be beautiful. For example, there was a girl who was prettyish, but then I got to know her and she was a nasty person, I then found her ugly. Similarly, when I met my best friend I thought she was average/pretty, but now that I know how truly amazing she is, I find her to be one of the most gorgeous people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing and can't find a single thing wrong even when she points them out.

I agree with your general view regarding American interference. America does not want Iran to have nuclear weapons, but then they have one of the largest nuclear arsenals in the world. But on the other hand, Iran has done nothing to instill confidence about global security and has continued threatening other nations and supporting terrorism from Syria to Lebanon to Israel and India. While as much as possible, we must stay out of others' affairs, in this case I think we do have to take the initiative to bring down this regime. What must be remembered is that the views of the Iranian government are not the views of the people, who yearn for greater independence. As Martin Luther King Jr once said 'injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere', so we cannot cut ourselves from issues that do not directly relate to us because indirectly they will come back to bite us!

Is it OK to allow a country to do as it damn well pleases? Instead of asking the posted question, how about initiating a conversation suggesting that churches, cities and towns her in the US offer to sponsor any oppressed women (or anyone else) to come to this country, allow us to assist in gaining your citizenship, bring your gifts to a land that appreciates it.
