Correct me if I'm wrong, but is it not 'government by the people, for the people'... that means it starts in the voting booth with the voter.

Most of us. The presidents are just front men. They are powerful, sure, so long as they maintain the status quo. There is rarely if ever a significant difference.

The danger to America is not Barack 0bama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency.

It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an 0bama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president.

The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. 0bama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America.

Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack 0bama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

Those who voted for him (some were my closest friends, friendship was saved), were sold on the snake oil salesman's charms, never mind that the snake oil did really work. I never saw a country so mesmerized by a tabula rasa who promised them the moon, the sun and the sky.

Simple to those who know anything how the government works....Presidents do not hinder or help the economy or control spending. It's controlled by the Congress and Senate...Congress controls the spending, National Debt area "BUT" the Senate must also okay all bills, as with the Senate they make the laws, rules and Congress must also okay the laws. Presidents can suggest, try to veto but they can be overridden by the Congress & Senate as was the case from Jan 2006 till Dec 2010 when the Senate & Congress was under full veto proof control by the Democrats (fact). The American had any knowledge of how government functions they will understand the power of the National Debt, spending and recovery is in their hands and not the person in the White House.........only President Regan had the ability to go over party lines to make Democrats and Republicans to agree to do things for the benefit of America not the party.

It's not the US Voter's fault either, it's the way things are rigged. It's how they buy themselves into office, how a good fiscal year with lots of profit is more important than human well-being and civil liberties. The rich want to stay rich and they don't care about anybody underneath them. And don't tell me that this is not about how rich somebody is, because that is EXACTLY what it is about.

We vote these greedy psychopaths in! They go to Washington for prestige, payola and privilege; and they retire rich.
National politicians need to be stripped of all special privilege and, most especially, reduced to one term. This would bring a new day to America.
U.S. Representatives and Senators represent the government — not the American people
As long as the political system is viewed by the American people as having two parties, elections will be manipulated and the people will be deceived. This is an absurd front for what Americans believe to be a two-party political system. It covers fraud and helps charlatans and psychopaths cling to power. But the reality is that everybody is wearing the same hat with a different color.
Governments always silently make war on their own citizens behind a propaganda front so as to alert as few people as possible. The less resistance there is the better.
One of the fastest ways to clear the mental fog is to realize that the two-party political system is a fallacy. Both parties are working toward a common goal. Anyone clinging to the illusion will be deceived to his grave.

To be fair it's all of the above. Although I don't necessarily agree that it would be the US voters fault because as far as i'm concerned US voters really have very little to do with the outcome of elections, in the same sense that the president really has very little power over what happens in the country. So while it can be seen as all of the above, more often then not I want to say it's none of the above.

Yes, it's ultimately the voters fault. We have allowed the education system to be taken over by the government so we are dumbed down. We don't take time to learn about any of the greedy pin heads who run for these offices; we decide through the party. We allow elected bureaucrats to disrespect the constitution and disregard their oath. We permit our presidents to be elected with a system that is nothing more than a 2 billion dollar beauty pageant instead of the responsible selection process our Founding Fathers wanted us to have, so now, instead of having stalwart executives for presidents, we have power hungry elected politicians.

Shoot I have people cut my hair that are more knowledgeable about the state of this nation than many of these elected officials. Corruption in the upper ranks needs to be dealt with and soon.

Americans across the board, and not just the electorate, have a really tough time taking responsibility for their phuck-ups. That's why they keep repeating the same stupid mistakes over and over and over and over again.

America's political system is broken beyond electoral remediation. Anyone who WASN'T in denial would recognize this. The fact that a third party has not become viable only demonstrates that the system cannot be fixed by using the system.
