Is Humanity Stupid?

Looks like the ethnic wars of old are continuing. But is there such a thing? My father went off to kill those damn Germans, my uncles the "Japs". Governments labled their foes as evil due to ethnicity. "You know what THEY'RE like!" I believe most people, even the bigots whose ranks seem to be growing, know deep inside that that's just not true. There's good and bad in all ethnic groups.

So what's going on? Governments are going on. No government on this planet can claim rightly to not be greedy. Even those that aren't solely out for personal gain want the very best for their fellow citizens. So even those 2 or 3 countries are guilty.

In attempting to amass wealth and power for any reason, governments use an easy tool. Racism. Unfortunately it's very easy to get folks to fear and hate those different from them. Governments know this very well and have been using it for thousands of years. Some people are just "better" than others and deserve more. So people are labeled as patriotic and urged to wipe out the infidels, foreigners and godless. And humanity falls for it. Every time.

The United States has brought this to a new height; dividing it's own citizens yet continuing to label other cultures as "bad guys". You're either with us or against us. And the population squabbles while the feeding of the greed goes on. How long will humanity allow this to continue? Do you have to further evolve for the madness to end? Or will governments keep coming up with reasons for killing to support their greed?
