What's the best way to prevent teen pregnancy? That's up for debate, but according to Tennessee lawmakers, preventing teens from hugging might be a start. The state just passed a bill allowing the parents of students to bring charges against teachers who condone "gateway sexual activity," an unclear term which has been the subject of much criticism. Some suggest the law could bring charges against teachers for allowing students to hold hands, dance too closely, or -- worse yet -- hug.
Planned Parenthood took a stance against the bill, and the organization's Director of Education said, "If the state of Tennessee gets to create the [sex] curriculum, it has to create something that umbrella reflects everyone." However, Tennessee is unique in that teen sex rates are higher there than the national average. According to a 2009 study, 61 percent of Memphis City high school students and 27 percent of middle school students have had sex. But does that mean holding hands should be banned? And is it even a "gateway sexual activity" to begin with?

Watching closely 2012/05/01 20:39:14Yes+34Yes! Add to that walking, talking, touching, seeing, breathing, and being human. I believe they are all gateways to sexual activity.

Now, had you asked about kissing and petting . . . well, that one's pretty obvious and probably why that wasn't included. ;>

I think she is attractive and chase her all about.
she knows how I feel and runs just fast enuff to stay out of my reach.
think about it, just think of the view
We need to EDUCATE our children on the FACTS and the logic and reason behind those facts, not make them just as paranoid and neurotic as some of the 911, big pharma-insane adults in this twisted culture are. Spend some time with the young ones, turn off the TV, give them some love instead of placating them with gifts and nonsense!!!
"That's it boys and girls, behave like I say, not as I do" Oh my, good Lord save us from ourselves!
Likewise, it seems that this State legislators have not observed the female social interactions. They engage in hugs and other forms of physical contact so much more than males do. Will the feminists stand against this as oppression?
This all reminds meof 8th grade, there were too many fights in my grade so the entire class had to he placed under a "no touch" policy in an effort to prevent fights. Well tho it's true there werent many fights after tht policy was placed upon us, it was a pain in the ass tht couples and best friends couldn't hold hands or hug. The moral of my story is tht sometimes authority passes dumb policies and rules but it may not be the best solution for everyone.
No, I'm afraid I have to disagree. Not everything was meant to be medicated. I agree more with the TV sitcom Roseanne, where they discover that it's normal for her son to get an erection on the school bus, even if it naturally tents up. The bus vibrates too much, and it can't just stop, just because of a natural rising woodie. It's called puberty, and why spoil it? Surely you don't want a pill to ban puberty? No pill needed. Such a pill would be malpractice, child abuse, or something. No, that's what the school books or coat are for, to cover up "embarrassing natural bulges," or perhaps other people who notice a spontaneous erection, can do the courtesy of trying to act as if they aren't aware. Overlook it, since the next day, it might be that other guy with the big bulge in his pants.
