Is government really "we the people"?

Given all that the government has done to abuse the American people over the years, I have to wonder if the government is "we the people" or something separate from us.

    Be careful actually; corporations are tools utilized by the elites and so are not the core of the problem.

    There is Government, and then
    There are the People.
    One is the Ruler, and the others are the Slaves.

    We the people is a concept in jeopardy. To paraphrase a well known speech:



    Two hundred and thirty six years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

    Now we are engaged in a critical presidential election, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure.

    The world will little note, nor long remember what we say, but it can never forget what those who came before us did here. It is for us the living, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who came before have thus far so nobly advanced.     Ultimately, all forms of government are democracies--even the dictatorships. If that's what you mean, then yeah. Otherwise, 'representative' government in a nation of over 300 million people is a myth. The tooth fairy is more credible.

    How could it be? Government is a monopoly of force. So we have one group of individuals that are considered to have the moral authority to aggress against another group of individuals whereas the second group may not do so against the first. It's inherently inequitable and the groups cannot be said to be equal or homogenous.

    A moral society cannot operate on this premise.

    Not everything related to government is socialism, and many aspects of socialism are independent of government. Just a note.

    As it is going the government seems to be above the people, they pass laws for the people and then turn around and pass another law that makes them exempt from it.
