General Motors, my employer, is not giving up on America, in fact quite the opposite. Every single industry is taking advantage of China. Look at how many things you use every day that are made in China. We Americans want cheap things, that's why we import from China. There is not one single vehicle that is sold in the US by GM that is built in China. In the past 3 years, GM has re-opened a plant in Lake Orion, MI and expanded a plant in Hamtramck, MI. Every single auto company is investing in China, GM simply established a foothold there sooner - long before the bankruptcy. Just remember, that if we don't support the domestic auto industry, it will go the way of other industries that no longer produce in the US, such as textiles, and the only vehicles we will even have a chance to buy will be from countries such as Japan (who people seem to forget, bombed Pearl Harbor and killed thousands of Americans).

It is a very sad day when most of the top 10 made in America cars are from Japanese companies.
    Looking to drive American?

You might wind up in a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord.

In fact, as the latest ranking of cars and trucks "Made in America" shows, it's not always Big 3 models with the most parts and labor coming from here in the US.

According to Cars.com, here are the "most" American made models for sale right now.

    Toyota Camry (last ranking 1)
    Honda Accord (last ranking 2)
    Chevy Malibu (last ranking 5)
    Ford Explorer (no last ranking)
    Honda Odyssey (last ranking 6)
    Toyota Sienna (last ranking 10)
    Jeep Wrangler (last ranking 9)
    Chevy Traverse (no last ranking)
    Toyota Tundra (last ranking 8)
    GMC Acadia (no last ranking)

If this list and the fact half of the models are from Japanese brands surprises you, it shouldn't.

Toyota and Honda have long built most of what they sell in the U.S. at plants in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana (among other places). And most of the parts in those cars are made here in North America.
As you can see the Toyota Camry is now the most made in America car on the market, which is made in my Home state of Kentucky.

I Grew Up In a G.M. Town ( DAYTON , OHIO ) and drove G.M. Cars my whole life , mostly Chevys . DAYTON is now " DETROIT SOUTH " - A Ghost Town ....G.M. has lost ALL SUPPORT in South West Ohio.

I am ASHAMED OF G.M. ! ................ did you know that " The Chevy CRUZ is the LEAST AMERICAN CAR ? " --- It Has ONLY 2% American parts !

The Chevy Cruze is NOT the least American Car. According to ABC News - http://abcnews.go.com/WN/Made... - it is 45% US. Not great, but at least it is built in Lordstown, OHIO!!! and better than the Toyota Corolla at 35%!!

I read that in the newspaper . It has been a few weeks ago ( front page , 2nd. section ) when I read it . They were comparing PERCENTAGE of American Made Parts . Maybe the 2% Was in Error , but that's what they said . " WHAT IS " the least American car ? I know that many foreign auto manufacturers are VERY American Made ( Toyota being very high up the list ) . THEY are coming here to build em' & WE are going to Korea & China . This is due to Business Taxes - Unions - EPA - Pensions and so on .
I live in a GM town and drove GM products since the late 60's ( still do ) but they , as well as the rest of the BIG THREE are not the same any more .

Some of the least American made vehicles may surprise you: Toyota Prius - 0%, Toyota Corolla - 35%, Toyota FJ Cruiser - 0%, Toyota Yaris - 0%, BMW 3 Series - 5%, Ford Fusion - 20%, Ford Transit Connect (North American Truck of the Year) - 10%, Honda Fit - 0%. True, the foreign companies are coming here to build vehicles to sell here, and the US Makers are going to other countries TO BUILD CARS FOR THOSE MARKETS!! The cars are not coming back here. GM does not sell 1 single vehicle in the US Market at this time that is not built in North America. Countries like China put extremely high taxes on imports which encourages companies to build plants there. If our government did the same thing, our economy would be growing like there's. Instead, in order to satisfy our need for inexpensive products, our government opens the trade doors WIDE OPEN!

This is one of the reason that I have thought for a long time that China should be removed from having most favored nation status. They have repeatedly have violate out patents and steal our technology. We let them get away with it as they continue to buy our debt and the government has refused to stop spending. We continue to force companies to leave America and move to other countries do to our regulation and tax structure. Yet we have people that want to put more regulation and taxes on them. Many of the law and regulation are to make it easier for unions to have a bigger advantage when dealing with a company. They have made it impossible for a company to negotiate with them. We are killing the golden goose and it is our fault. The government has refused for decades to become energy independent. Preferring to buy oil from people that are our enemy. I meant to select none of the above.

GM re-opened a plant in Lake Orion, MI that builds one of the only sub-compact cars built in the US, the Sonic, and is expanding the plant in Hamtramck, MI to build the Impala (moving from Canada) and is even re-opening the Spring Hill Plant outside Nashville. I am proud to be hired by them a few years ago and am very proud the way that the economy is turning around in Michigan since the bailout for both GM and Chrysler and all of the suppliers that were saved as well.

I wonder how those good ol' boys are going to like their 'Made In China' Chevy pickups.

I dislike government picking winners and losers !!!! Socialistic ! Bankrucy would have restructured the company with out government control and the way it goes if you drive the company inthe ground with help from unions demands.
