Hate your answer choices. Unbias fail.

Extremism of any kind is sick and shows a lack of flexibility, adaptability, and general ability to cope with new situations and see them as they are. This includes conservatism, libertarianism, religiousness, non-religiousness (as in: 'militant atheists') etc.

I would not say it is a mental illness, however, it could be a sign of the presence of a mental imbalance of some sort. It could also simply be the result of very one-sided mis-education (such as one often gets from the public school system) without any counter balanced proper education. When this is the case, the person will often change position when they encounter the truth.

First off, I'm not a Liberal extremist, or any kind of extremist for that matter.
Also, being an extremist does NOT equate to being insane or mentally ill, no matter how much you disagree with their beliefs. Extremists of all types need to loosen up a little bit and calm down, yes, but calling them mentally ill is going too far.

I am a liberal and I believe I am qualified to answer this question. The answer is yes. Anything taken to extreme is a type of sickness. Just as extreme conservatism is a mental illness, extreme liberalism is also. The problem is what detractors refer to as 'extreme.' Abortion rights are not extreme, for example. On the other side of the fence, limited government is not extreme. What is extreme however is the violence that targets abortion providers and a total disregard for humans outside the fetal womb. The Affordable Care Act is meant to address the needs of poor people without insurance so those who are fortunate to already have health insurance can keep the same rates. How many conservatives have actually taken the time to read what the Affordable Care Act consists of? 0. Nada. Zilch. Nobody. Their extreme ideology precludes them from seeing what is actually in the provisions.

    Medical Dictionary
    mental illness n.
Any of various disorders characterized chiefly by abnormal behavior or an inability to function socially, including diseases of the mind and personality and certain diseases of the brain. Also called mental disease , mental disorder

Please, "extreme" is not part of the definition. In my view the answer would be YES.
Actually those who do not or cannot or will not think are the most extremely dangerous.
They are those who flounder in the grey middle, lost with neither Principal or Rationality.

I do care on some questions. But no liberal is going to answer this question with a yes. Some questions I leave room for input, but the truth is, I don't agree with much of anything that most liberals say. They make polls like this. I could point you to some. Do you do this with them to or is it just me you are self righteous with?
  • Flowers ☆ElenaD... 2012/07/17 20:02:07

Actually i Do quite often. I'm not being self righteous, I simply asked a question. Why are you so quick to snap at me when I did nothing wrong to you. You say they did it first, they say "look she did it so we can do it too!" it's a vicious circle that you allow. If you don't agree, self admitted, then why even post a question? If its to gain attention, or points, or simply to trap some into being upset so you can rationalize being rude to them then say that. At least then, people would know your motives. Some questions from you I like, but others I just don't get why you try to play the victim. Again, not trying to offend you, just stating my opinion.
