Is dowry important for every marriage?

i don't know about the answer. But i know only one thing that, it is the cause of many new married girls death.They does not start their life due to the dowry

Dowry never made sense to me. You get the girl, her child making abilities and the children resulting from that, her skills around the house, and you get paid for it? Meanwhile her family loses their daughter and a good portion of their riches. If anything the family of the bride should be paid.
Actually, the whole system should be trashed and women should marry who they want and not be treated like merchandise.

It is an evil which should be abolished. In our country so many die because of honor killings. Marriage should be a bond between two individuals who love each other and not because they want money.

Thanks for your rave, Mademoiselle Boo. I know you have the death penalty (I don't support it), but I recently read that a man in a Kerala village has been sentenced to 40 years imprisonment, with hard labour, for raping and killng a young girl. Hard labour, I agree, and they should be shamed publicly, so everybody understands that there is nothing "honorable" about "honor killings".

Among the Democrats the Dowry is a must. I actually watched several would be marriages fall apart over the dowry.

i think u are wrong, if you see news or search in net then you find yourself the correct answer that every day, every week, every month or every year how many deaths take place due to dowry system

I totally agree with you, and perpetrators should be very severely punished, see one of my replies to Boo. I am against the death penalty, but I would support very hard forced labour.
What is silly is the man's first sentence about American Democrats.
