I used to believe in-school punishment such as paddles, would make a person meaner, but spanking was used on me. However, nowdays that kids are how they are, I think they would get mean if that was brought back. But it may work on some, it depends on the person, really

It may be because I'm seeing it from an older perspective now but yes I think so. It mainly for me has to do with how I see teenagers treat their parents in public. If I were to ever talk to my parents the way I see kids do nowadays, I would be smacked into next century.

I agree to a certain extent but I think It also is a problem with this generation in general. I have seen kids walk over their parents and they are middle aged.

We have allowed so much of their childhood to be taken away, restricted them so much and made it so easy for them to hold parents hostage by threatening parents with reporting for made up abuses, that they now run the asylum. Parents have had so many of their rights restricted that many now feel like they have no power to raise their own children.

I wasn't alive 50 years ago, but I can see from 20 years ago.

When I was raised, you showed graciousness and generosity. When I was a kid, I was very considerate of my peers. Now I'll see kids get gifts and act like they're supposed to be treated like that. No "thank you" and maybe you'll get a "whatever", but by and large, the kids usually just take what's given to them and will usually wonder why they didn't get more.

People need to quit treating their kids as holier-than-thou objects and treat them like real people.

I raised 3 kids, and they went to public schools, I look at the kids now, and nobody cares about them, or what they learn, o rwho they become, if they can't throw money at it, or a govement program, parents don't seem to give a damn. I had to go out yesterday, and I watched a young woman with a little girl she could not have been more than three, the child was about 3 paces behind her mother, and mom never even looked back

I teach orchestra to over 300 3rd, 4th and 5th graders and have taught from kinder through High School and can attest that the behavior of students in public schools is terrible. Students no longer strive to do well and are not excited to work towards high achievement. They have focus and attention issues and so often do things that way they want to instead of how they are taught and then the teacher gets graded because that students does not perform correctly. With 13 seperate public classe and two private Christian classes I can attest that the best behavior is at the private school. Two of the 13 public classes are succeding as they should and the balance are moving slowly due to poor behavior. The better the behavior the better the result.

I would like to say yes, but in reality I think it's mainly due to the lack of discipline. In recent years it has become increasingly difficult to discipline your children without someone crying foul.
It has created an air of confusion as to what to do, so parents turn a blind eye to anything bad. That's why every time you see a parent with a child who has been involved in questionable activity it's always, "They're an angel and wouldn't harm a gnat..."

Just listen to the left's excuses for the little s##t that cursed out the judge in Miami. Dr. Ben Carson's mother would not allow excuses and look at her results. A pediatric surgeon and a rocket scientist. Thank God for that woman, she should be nominated for sainthood. Parents have abdicated their children to government in favor of that government check and it shows all over America.

I don't know, kids 50 years ago misbehaved in different ways, they didn't have video games or iphones or any of that crap and the Teachers at school didn't take any crap. Yes, I guess kids now are much worse.
