Is Chick-fil-A’s Dan Cathy A Life Time Homophobic ? Yes..and He's got Plans.
It may come as a surprise to those who have not been following the
news about Chick-fil-A, but the company is openly Christian (closing its
doors on Sundays and what-not), and they openly support the National
Organization for Marriage and are openly homophobic. So, it is not
surprising when Dan Cathy, the company’s president and COO, said in an interview:
“I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake
our fist at him and say, ‘We know better than you as to what constitutes
a marriage. I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a
prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define
what marriage is about.”
His attitudes are not far off from the Alabama pastor who banned
Blacks from his meeting of pastors on the grounds that Whites are the
Chosen People, nor are they far from the attitudes of many racists back
during the Civil Rights movement.
Cathy also made it clear that he supports so-called traditional
marriage stating “Guilty as charged. We are very much supportive of the
family—the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned
business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives.
We give God thanks for that. We know that it might not be popular with
everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share
our values and operate on biblical principles.”
Oddly enough, the actual Biblical definition of a family is one man
and more than one woman, or at least that is the definition as it stood
in the parts of the Bible where homosexuality was condemned. In the
parts that Christians are actually suppose to follow- namely the
Gospels- there is no definition of marriage.
Chick-fil-A has been giving money routinely to anti-gay groups over the years. “In January 2011, the media reported that Chick-fil-A was co-sponsoring a marriage conference along with the Pennsylvania Family Institute (PFI), an organization that had filed an amicus brief against the trial ruling striking down Proposition 8 in California. PFI had also lobbied against a state effort to ban discrimination in Pennsylvania on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. Another organization connected to Chick-fil-A through financial support, the WinShape Foundation, was also quoted as stating it would not allow same-sex couples to participate in its marriage retreats ...”
Mr. Cathy also is advocating with AFA are asking churchgoers to boycot 7-Eleven, Abercrombie & Fitch, American Airlines, American Girl, Blockbuster Video, Burger King, Calvin Klein, Carl's Jr., Clorox, Comcast, Crest, Ford, Hallmark Cards, Kmart, Kraft Foods, S. C. Johnson & Son, Movie Gallery, Microsoft, MTV, Mary Kay, NutriSystem, Old Navy, IKEA, Sears, Pampers, Procter & Gamble, Target, Tide, Walt Disney Company, and PepsiCo only because these businesses will hire and promote gays into high positions. And they will hire gay married couples....
The right is full of conservatives like Mr. Cathy... who will use their power and wealth to strike down freedom of life styles and other beliefs that do not fit their agenda.... Mr. Cathy along with many high power religious players on the right want to rewrite the U.S. Constitution to fit their religious agendas.
Hoping to turn America into a Theocracy. And they will do this if Mitt Romney becomes president. And your average meat head conservative thinks they believe in God...lol the only light they see is making them all blind to this...
You may not like gays...but take their rights away and it will only be a matter of time when the Good Old White Boy Fundamentalists will be rewriting all our laws and Constitution.
So if you love our Constitution vote for gay rights on marriage and do not vote for any GOP this election... You may not like that...but it's either that or we become like a middle eastern country.
Show me a conservative Christian...and I will show you a bigot...

BrotherJohn 2012/08/01 10:36:36+3Meh show me any Christian and you'll also be showing me a hypocrite. I've been a Christian for decades and I haven't met one yet that wasn't. I support Dan Cathy.
Semper Reformanda!

Nobody excused Bristol Palins disobeying her mom and having a baby out of wedlock
You a Obama Representative calling a American Women a whore is noted
I thought this was cute.
"limited hyocrisy of the Left"?
When you place Left v Right on a balance beam: the Left is heavier in liars than the Right! Sorry, but you're wrong.
You just lost any credibility! The Left is NOTHING but hypocrisy-laden!
ANYtime a Liberal stance is challenged by the facts, they lose!
Just look at the Left's over-the-top reaction to Cathy's statement...
I draw the line at the U.S. Constitution, not the ravings of a failed 19th Century German Philosopher.
Oh, and let's not forget what the Islamic tradition says about homosexual behavior...
The Holy Quran, in sura 7:81 states, "For ye practise your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds."

Why don't you tell those of the Muslim faithful that THEY are "homophobic" hate mongers?
They might consider you an infidel worthy of Mohammed's punishment under Sura 47:4 which states, "Now when ye meet those who disbelieve, smite their necks until when ye have slain them greatly, then make fast the bonds; then, thereafter let them off either freely or by ransom, until the war layeth down the burthens thereof. That ye shall do. And had Allah willed, He would have vindicated Himself against them, but He ordained fighting in order that He may prove you one by the other. And those who are slain in the way of Allah, He shall not send their works astray."

I defy you to link this with so-called "right" wing hate!
Your endless excuses are pathetic.
Such a concession. More like the understatement of the year. Lol.
Now some will point out in St Paul's epistles he states; that a leader fo the church; "should be a man of one wife. Note the keyword "should" Also, two of Pauls financial supporters Eudia and Syntyche were in a lesvos relationship, married and buried in a marital sarcophagus
The Sin Of Sodom According To Jesus Was Not Homosexuality
Pagan worshipers of the fertility goddess.
The sin of Sodom was homosexuality, according to many Christians (but not according to the Bible). We are told by modern preachers that Sodom’s destruction proves that homosexuality was the problem in Sodom and therefore, homosexuality is wrong.
The problem with that viewpoint is that it goes against the testimony of history and the testimony of scripture.
Some archeologists believe this is Lot's Cave, where Lot fled with his two daughters, to escape the destruction of Sodom.

Some archeologists believe this is Lot's Cave, where Lot fled with his two daughters, to escape the destruction of Sodom.
For 1700 years after God destroyed Sodom, the human authors of the Bible and the Jews as a nation described Sodom's sin as lack of hospitality, pride, idolatry, greed or gluttony but never as homosexuality.
If the problem in Sodom was homosexuality, God would have clearly stated that in the Bible.
If the problem in Sodom was homosexuality, some Jewish rabbi, scholar or writer would have pointed that out in the 1700 years after God destroyed Sodom.
Examples of gay people in the early church:
Euodia and Syntyche of Phillippi were a missionary couple active in the early church , mentioned in St. Paul’s letter to the Philippians (4:2-3)
Tryphaena and Tryphosa were a further missionary couple active in the early church, mentioned in in Rom 16.
The Early & Medieval Church
In the early church, many saints and martyrs are remembered as pairs of lovers. The church also created and used formal rites for church blessing couples committing to each other in same sex unions. In addition to liturgical recognition of these unions at their start, some couple also achieved church recognition at their dissolution in death, by being buried together in church tombs, in a manner exactly comparable to that widely used for conventionally married couples.
Here are some examples:
SS Sergius & Bacchus , Roman soldiers, lovers, martyrs and recognised as saints by popular acclamation, are by a long way the best known of the so-called “gay saints” (although I prefer to use the descriptor “queer”).
SS Polyeuct and Nearchos , are not as well known as Sergius and Bacchus, but like them were Roman soldiers and martyrs who became recognized as saints. They are frequently named together in the liturgical rites of same-sex union.
St Paulinus of Nola was a Bishop who also wrote homoerotic poetry to his male lover, Ausonius
So, with saints, I don't really have anything to say. I don't care about sainthood, there are a couple of "saints" that never even existed.
With your examples of gay couples in the church, no where in the bible are they mentioned as anything other than members of the church. Where do you get this relational connection, because it isn't in the bible.
With Euodia and Syntyche, this is all it says:
"2 I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. 3 Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life." (Philippians 4:2-3)
With Tryphaena and Tryphosa, this is all it says:
"2 Greet those workers in the Lord, Tryphaena and Tryphosa." (Rom. 16)
The sin of Sodom was a lot of things. Homosexuality was one of them, but not the only one, most likely.
That said, it isn't Sodom that most preachers point to when speaking of Homosexuality being a sin. They point to the following versus:
Leviticus 18:22 - "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable." (NIV)
Leviticus 20:13 - "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman,...

Romans 1:26-27
I'm not doing this to be an ass, but to point out how easy, with the internet, it is to find how untrue what you posted it. Then, those on the fence feel lied to, are a less likely to trust the marriage equality supporters. Which hurts us, the LGBTQ community.
A much better source of pro-homosexual Christian arguments is:

As to the cars comment, I never said anything not found in the bible was a sin. That doesn't even make sense.
