Is Biden as geography challenged as Obama? “Syria is 5 times larger than Libya”

Remember Obamas’ assertion that “Iran in a small country” (it is larger than UK, Germany, Japan and Italy combined)?

Now the other brilliant part of the sweet couple, Biden, makes publicly fool of himself during the debate with Ryan. In the real world, where everybody but Obama supporting loonies live, Libya (it is even larger than Iran) is almost 9.5 times larger than Syria.

Here is what the Romney camp should jump on

And despite manifestations of their VP’s ignorance and stupidity, they (lefties) are still calling him a “winner”?

What more can be expected when the fraud-in-chief thinks there are 57 states and that Hawaii is part of Asia?

Hoof- in -mouth disease doesn't even compare to his geographical stupidity. One would think that if you are a world leader, you would, at least, do your homework on the geography of your debate. It would be akin to a surgeon going into the operating room with no knowledge of the anatomy on which he/she is operating on. It just blows my mind how ill prepared our leaders are.

He reversed the names and then immediately corrected himself. That's not a huge deal; he showed that he knew the facts and why those facts were important. That's just a poorly designed sentence; oh noes.

Oh, yeah, it would be only huge deal if Ryan said something like that, right?
Not to mention, if he (not his handlers) knew that Syria is much smaller than Libya, than he is a real cretin, because that notion diametrically contradicts the argument he so awkwardly was trying to make.
  • Zuggi Mike56 2012/10/12 19:59:43

Not at all. He was saying that Libya is a big country geographically; surgical strikes were therefore much easier to pull off. He obviously knew what he was talking about and made a verbal fumble which he immediately fixed.

RADDATZ: Let’s move to another war, the civil war in Syria, where there are estimates that more — estimates that more than 25,000, 30,000 people have now been killed. In March of last year, President Obama explained the military action taken in Libya by saying it was in the national interest to go in and prevent further massacres from occurring there. So why doesn’t the same logic apply in Syria? Vice President Biden?

BIDEN: Different country. It’s a different country. It is five times as large geographically, it has one-fifth the population, that is Libya, one-fifth the population, five times as large geographically.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com...

He described Libya in relation to Syria, then clarified the direction of the comparison.
  • Mike56 Zuggi 2012/10/12 22:17:40

Well, Raddatz probably let him know about that Bidenism he made,
And where the words about ""surgical strikes"?
  • Zuggi Mike56 2012/10/13 00:16:58

    Riiiiight.

He didn't say it, but it's basic knowledge of how the war went. We went in with airpower and took out anti-air units, tank units, and communications. We were blowing up the territory of a future ally, so we wanted to keep it intact, and we were trying to keep numbers down for our own political reasons.

First, nothing is "basic knowledge" for Joe the C-D student
Second, the bombing in Libya took place in densely populated areas, not in the empty deserts, with no troops and no dwellings

Some did take place in cities, which is why it had to be surgical.

Biden was chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He's an acknowledged world-class expert in foreign affairs.
