I joke I joke. Seriously, though, did any of us Aussies vote for Julia Gillard? Because I think my vote was for Rudd.

You do not vote for the leader, you vote for your local representative. The party can choose anybody in its party to be prime minister, as long as the person holds a seat in parliament.

no one voted her in there was a tie so three gov officials were the deciding vote. I remember bob Katter was one of them. Bob the silly pigeon made a big deal out of it claiming that he was going to choose what was right for his people and was swaying towards Tony. He prolonged the decision process so everyone was waiting on him. Then at the last minute went for Julia.

Well ... I think there is an election and I think I get a vote - it is kind of annoying that most people don't vote the same as me but that's democracy I guess.

Fair enough Nancy, however if any of the following were to occur would you change your mind:
    1. You were forced to vote, fined for failure to comply, charged and jailed
    2. your local government sold your home out from under you
    3. Your local govt fines and bullies you for doing things to your property
    4. Your Fed govt ultimately wants you to no longer own land
    5. Your current Prime Minister is charged with legitimate Treasonable offenses under the constitution and the High Court suppresses the matter
    6. Your countries media acts complisately by actively not reporting the issue
    7. Current and successive Fed govts have actively eroded your rights illegally outside their power and without referendum

Would you still feel the same?....

Everybody is forced to vote because if certain minorities do not vote they will not get represented properly and may be discriminated against.
If the government takes your home they pay you the value in which it is worth, and they take it generally for the benefit of many people instead of just the residents of the home.
And what treasonable offences is the pm supposedly meant to be charged with?

It is illegal not to vote in Australia. Americans care more about politics than most aussie but not everyone votes in America which I find interesting. If our PM is charged with treason wouldn't the queen or governer general do something about it?

    Yep, afraid so...!
I thought the same thing at first as well, and we have the perfect leader who is now trying to hide her communist leanings since she was active in the Fabian society...
Irony is she hasn't been elected, has been charged with treason ( by law should not be standing at all ) whilst eroding our rights without referendum, is about to bring in the biggest changes to the Australian landscape in political history all without let or hinder......?
