Is America capable of a viable third party?

Our society seems to be a balanced binary system. Couch it in your own terms--Conservative/Progressive, Have/Have Not, Traditional/Liberal, etc.,--do we have enough shades of gray for a sustainable third party?

absolutly not we can't even handle smaller decisions without it creating an uproar . . .others have tried, but other than the whig party none ever had a president
too many things are way to contaversial as it is, we'd just opening another can of worms we can't handle

You're saying that it would only turn into a spoiler party?

A spoiler party is a party (C), whose only effect is pulling enough voters away from party A to ensure the victory of party B.

Perhaps if you are having a problem coming across clearly you may want to review your answer before hitting submit.

But my take is that America is a binary system, defaulting to yes or no on almost every issue. We, as a people, do not seem to use the shades of grey. Or I should probably say, we are manipulated into it by special interest groups.

true, true about the shades of grey thing; it seems as though most people just seem to "hop on the band wagon" as one might say, but i still stand by my answer (which i believe couldn't have come across any more clearly, it seems as though maybe it is YOU that needs to focus on what your reading before hitting reply)
