My entire family immigrated here from either Europe or Australia.
I have one ancestor who was Native American. Her entire tribe was killed and she was adopted by a family and married some other ancestor of mine.

Up till recently it was legal immigrants that came here, filled out the proper paper work, learned English, were made American citizens, and then assimilated.

It was at one point certainly. I think we have enough people now that were born here to safely say that is not the case anymore.

Difference is the immigrants up to the 1950's came over here with a very different mentality. They came to the land of opportunity where people had the freedom to shape their future. Determination, hard work and self reliance could get you somewhere.

Actually, I have read that from an Archeological point of view even original peoples immigrated from Asia. thousands of years ago.

The only Americans who are not immigrants are Native Americans. All others are immigrants from some generational level. And if you want to go back even further, the Native Americans migrated via a long, long ago land bridge.

Even Natives have roots stemming from Asia. Almost everyone is either an immigrant or a descendant of one.

In fact, if one accepts the common belief that humans originated in Africa, everyone except for those living in the very heart of humanity's birthplace can be considered an immigrant.

It is almost entirely comprised of immigrants or the descendants thereof. The original inhabitants, the American Indians, make up a very small percentage of the current population.

Yes, but as a country with a rule of law, there is a legal pathway to citizenship. Other wise we are a country without law. If you just choose to ignore the law, they what do we become? If you want to change the law about illegal immigration, then do it.

Absolutely. There are not many indigenous people here because of those early settlers. I would have loved to see this country when people lived close to the Earth.
