As a very long term officer in the Army, I can say with 100 certainty that we will never have a military coup in this country. No officer could get the bulk of the military to follow them in taking such action.

Realize this is an old thread but I hope to hell your wrong. The coup has allready occured and it will end up being a civil war that .Mil intervention could prevent. The oath is paramount and to reestablish lawful government of , by, and for the people it would at this point be merited. The United States Government is illegitimate until the situation is rectified. Bush and Obama should be cellmates until their trials.. And if you saw Panetta say that permission for US Combat operations need only come from Nato or the UN, and you dont see that the coup has allready occured on so many levels? Then you Sir have allready abandoned your oath. God bless and God speed to the reestablished and lawfull government of the United States. Until then I withdraw all consent and support .

I believe it's possible considering the despicable way Obama has treated our military & his subversion of the Constitution.

It's possible. It's not like we haven't had a "state sanctioned" regime change once already. But as we normally picture a military coup, I think it highly unlikely. You have to remember, our soldiers are Americans also. One of the reasons I crack up when folks claim a revolution would be impossible in America. That we couldn't fight the military. Of course most who think that way never served, and wouldn't even contemplate it if we were actually invaded by a foreign power. Whatever would affect Americans enough to actually revolt would also be affecting our soldiers and their families.

It is certainly not unthinkable. Actually, MacArther himself had turned in a group of generals that were in the early stages of plotting to do just that back in the 30's. The kicker here is that they had planned on making MacArther the leader.

America does not have the Culture for it to be successful. THAT being said. Our AMERICAN culture is giving way to third world political correctness. Once it has infected the culture both in the civilian sector then the military all bets are off.
