If something must be granted to you, it's not a right.

It is not a right. It should be earned. By the measure of our public education system they are giving out diploma's like candy.

Many countries have this concept. There is a clear difference between populations that are treated well by their countries and those that are not. Education should be a right that every american has access to. Worlds smartest countries

Yes, youth of America, you have a God given right to a liberal brainwashing, a debt load the size of a home mortgage and no job to pay for it.

I think you should pay your own tuition and work if necessary in order to do so.
I was the first in my immediate family to receive a college degree. My father made it through the first three weeks of third grade but had to quit to start farming.

Clicked other by mistake. Should have been more entitlemen thinking. A college education is not a "right", and must be earned to have true value not "free".

No. If toilet paper isn't free, why in the hell should a college diploma be; especially since they now carry an equal value and worth.

I only interviewed College Grads... I needed people with a high school equivalent education, and even then I interviewed 4 to 6 applicants to hire 1.

if America knows what is good for it, it will insist on educating its citizens. stupidity and ignorance are only good for mediocre job prospects, a docile, credulous population, and poor competitiveness in the world.

Advanced education should be available to anyone who wants it and while nothing is free education is the best defense against the ills of the world.
A well educated population makes for a more harmonious society, reduces poverty and benefits everyone.
Coming out of school saddled with massive debt is how slavery remains alive in America.
The difference being that wage slaves must provide their own food, clothing and shelter.

All knowledge should be given freely.

Einstein knew this, for if he had copyrighted his work then every technological development since before the war would incur a royalty cost.

What If scientists hadn't given away the knowledge that makes the internet work and what if google and wikipedia we not free, where would we be today?

If you do not nourish the roots of society, then its flowers will surely whither and die....

I have a girlfriend who occasionally posts a college student quote of the day from the University she attends. . . One day she posted a quote from a female in her class:

"Why does the president need to be a natural born citizen? What is he was born by C-Section?"

    Enough said. . .

College education is an issue of national security... if the US expects to make it through the next round of technological advancement We had better dig our heads out of our festering asses and realize that there is only so many ways a person can shape a slurpee, and only so many times we can all sell each other Hamburgers and reach arounds in the commercial paper markets...

College isnt necessary. there is nothing you cant learn at home, what you can learn in a college.

there are also successful innovative people that have dropped out of highschool even.

    theyre just government brainwashing tools

How about complex physics, or computer science, or countless other disciplines, if we all thought this way in the 50's you and I would not be discussing this on technology that was developed in the 60's 70's and 80's and lost to every foreign country in the 90's and 2000's because there was not enough domestic Manufacturing Engineers to keep hold of the processes, So now every last micro chip is imported... just like our engineers and doctors... our society is broken and the beginnings of the answers are in education.

Good, and I have made a hobby of studying Nuclear physics, but nobody is going to let me anywhere near a Tokamak reactor, and instead they will bring a foreign national to fill a spot where countless other US citizens people would have had the interest. This happens in many different fields and it is foolish for us to think that just because a person can buy a book and study that they will grasp the peripheral concepts.
