ABCNEWS.GO.COM reports:
So-called “sin taxes” exist for smoking, gambling and alcohol, so Illinois State Sen. Toi Hutchinson says it’s about time there was a “skin tax” for strip clubs. Hutchinson, a Democrat, introduced a bill in the state legislature on Feb. 7 that proposes a $5 tax for the entry of each customer admitted into a live adult entertainment facility. Called the “Live Adult Entertainment Facility Tax Act,” the proceeds would go to a proposed fund, the Sexual Assault Prevention Fund, with the state’s treasury.

next she'll want to start a tax for people that dont go to movies or bars or clubs. it will be some sort of hazily worded "lack of activity tax". so if you arent involved in doing things where your every move makes money for someone who doesnt deserve it, you have to give them money anyway.

As long as models are all taxed equally. As well as anyone, who is on the stage. Inclusive of other preformers too. To tax the skin trade would be fair if, all of the trade were still allowed. But, if they are going to tax strippers. Then, if taxed, stop the raids, allow prostitution, etc. But to seperate the one for taxation for stripping on a stage. Then tax the runway models too!

Tax the legislators and leave the working girls alone. As far as "sin" is concerned, We The People are screwed by law makers a heck of a lot more frequently, resulting in higher costs, than we are by street walkers, strippers, and pole dancers. Additionally, the street walkers, strippers and pole dancers deliver a better service and are more respectful to their customers.

    The Tax Poem

    Tax his land,
    Tax his bed,
    Tax the table
    At which he's fed.

    Tax his tractor,
    Tax his mule,
    Teach him taxes
    Are the rule.

    Tax his work,
    Tax his pay,
    He works for peanuts
    Anyway!

    Tax his cow,
    Tax his goat,
    Tax his pants,
    Tax his coat.

    Tax his ties,
    Tax his shirt,
    Tax his work,
    Tax his dirt.

    Tax his tobacco,
    Tax his drink,
    Tax him if he
    Tries to think.

    Tax his cigars,
    Tax his beers,
    If he cries
    Tax his tears.

    Tax his car,
    Tax his gas,
    Find other ways
    To tax his A$$!

    Tax all he has
    Then let him know
    That you won't be done
    Till he has no dough.

    When he screams and hollers,
    Then tax him some more,
    Tax him till
    He's good and sore.

    Then tax his coffin,
    Tax his grave,
    Tax the sod in
    Which he's laid.

    Put these words
    Upon his tomb,
"Taxes drove me to my doom..."

    When he's gone,
    Do not relax,
    Its time to apply

That old lady wants the proceeds to go to her buddies at the rape center! The supreme court ruled Unconstitutional and she appealed it with tax money. I voted against her to be a state rep and she got on our city council!!! Ellen Cohen! It implies that strippers cause rapes! It is called the Pole Tax.

What is the basis of their obligation to pay such a "tax"?
  • Horace T A 2012/08/31 00:18:23
    Horace
Because taxes are necessary, they pay for everything that we need from roads, to education to protection, in order to pay for these things we need to get money from the general population to pay for those things that we all benefit from.
  • T A Horace 2012/08/31 06:03:06

That doesn't describe or explain ones obligation. An obligation is a moral duty. One person's necessity is not another's obligation unless the second person caused that
want. I'll be happy to address those issues you mentioned. I just want to clear up the obligation question first.

Perhaps it would help to rephrase the question from the from the vantage point of those doing the taking rather than from those whose property is being confiscated. From where is the authority to take that for which one has not worked derived?
  • Horace T A 2012/08/31 06:26:14
    Horace
First of all the authority comes from the people. In a democratic society the consent of the people is required for the government to act, specifically every few years they need to renew their mandate to take taxes from the people so that they can continue to do the necessary things to keep society functional. Second of all the authority comes from need, without a standing military the country would be invaded. Without a standing police crime would go unpunished, without an education system the population would remain uneducated and without services like paving roads none of us would be able to travel long distances. Without these precepts it is impossible that any of us would be able to do the work that you are describing. Therefore we appoint duly elected representatives to decide the best ways to get this necessary money from the population. If our obligation or moral duty does not come from our moral duty to help our fellow human being see these necessary precepts than it certainly comes from our obligation to ourselves, to keep our society and therefore our lives intact. This is not just an issue of giving money to help others (although I believe that this would be the ideal moral philosophy to live by) but about taking money to help ourselves and pay for the things we get the benefit of.

Fair only if the money goes where it is supposed to. Men that get their jollies out of looking at naked women should cough up the money the same way others who indulge themselves. Actually I think this was a little tongue in cheek legislation but good for him for bringing it up. We all have our secret little sins. I used to smoke but once the price went up and up it sure headed me toward quitting.

Here's a novel idea. Let those who want these things pay for them themselves and use words, not guns, to convince others to join them.

There is no legitimate basis for people to be obligated to surrender money or property to someone simply because another individual writes words on a piece of paper saying they must.
